A Toast For A Bug: KeepKarlsruheBoring celebrates their hosting!

Einige von euch haben es vielleicht bemerkt: Beim Teilen oder Öffnen einer der Veranstaltungen von KeepKarlsruheBoring in einem neuen Tab erschien die Fehlermeldung:

¯\(ツ)/¯ Event not found.

Ja, erschien, das ist richtig!

Dieser Fehler gehört (zumindest vorerst) der Vergangenheit an, dank der Arbeit und Unterstützung von Kim und Nico, Mitarbeitern von uberspace.de (unserem Hosting-Anbieter, also den Leuten, die sich um den Server kümmern, auf dem KeepKarlsruhe Boring gespeichert ist). Wir haben uns dafür entschieden, KeepKarlsruheBoring dort zu hosten, weil ihr flexibles Preismodell unseren Bedürfnissen entsprach, aber auch, weil sie sich für freie Software und die Stärkung der Nutzer:innen einsetzen, über eine sehr zugängliche Dokumentation verfügen und ihre Server mit Ökostrom betreiben. Außerdem ist ihr Supportservice einfach großartig: Sie sind nicht nur schnell und super kompetent, sondern auch sehr (sehr!) geduldig und immer gut gelaunt.

Da KeepKarlsruheBoring auch ihnen zu verdanken ist, wollten wir ihre großartige Arbeit, die oft nicht sichtbar ist, anerkennen, bedanken und feiern. Deshalb stoßen wir auf Kim, Nico und uberspace an und wenn jemand Lust hat, reden wir über Hosting, Server, Wartung und Bugs.

PS: Es ist auch eine großartige Gelegenheit für alle, die mehr über KeepKarlsruheBoring erfahren möchten, vorbeizukommen und sich umzuschauen.

Some of you may have noticed that when sharing or opening one of the KeepKarlsruheBoring events in a new tab, an error message appeared saying ¯\(ツ)/¯ Event not found.

Yes, it did appear.

This error (at least at the moment) is now history, thanks to the work and support of Kim and Nico, employees of uberspace.de (our hosting provider, i.e. the people who take care of the server where KeepKarlsruhe Boring is stored). We chose to host KeepKarlsruheBoring there because their flexible pricing scheme suited our needs, but also because they are committed to free software and empowering users, have very good documentation, and use green energy to power their servers. Their support service is also wonderful: Not only are they fast and competent, but they listen and have a lot (a lot!) of patience and good humour.

Since it is also thanks to them that KeepKarlsruheBoring exists, we wanted to acknowledge, thank and celebrate their magnificent work, which often goes unnoticed. So we will raise our glass to Kim, Nico and uberspace. If anyone feels like it, we will talk about hosting, servers, maintenance and bugs.

Ich taste mich in den Tag während der Mann schon zum Wochenmarkt losgeradelt ist.
