@dillyd Oh lord, I live near one of the largest universities in the country and I dread move-in week, because the HEB will be full to the brim with confused freshmen, parents in tow, trying to navigate a new store to stock their dorm rooms. They are always way too absorbed in the task at hand to pay the rest of humanity any mind. Then there’s the re-stock trips where hung-over dorm mates dither about which ramen flavor to get… I might drive the extra couple miles to the store in the opposite direction until October. 😂 Kind of a first world problem, but I have better things to do than watch you real-time calorie count with your cart jacked up like a cop car blocking a crime scene.

ALIEN EARTH (Disney+)
It's often said you need to know the rules before you can break them. This is the case in this very original television show.
It doesn't have the blockbuster feel that the movies do, although it does reflect the first film in the opening scenes. Then it goes on to pay homage to classic screen sci-fi of the 60s and 70s in its set design.
As you'd expect, this is a big budget production, but they took time in development beforehand, even to the point where the actors fully embrace their characters from the first frame. They're not still discovering who they are in the early episodes. They show up on screen fully formed.
The other unique thing is the off kilter music score matched with the unique sound design. Both keep you on edge without drawing attention to what you are hearing, while at the same time complimenting what's on the screen. It's not your standard normal foley sounds of footsteps etc, matched with music that underscores a character's emotion.
We were captivated as much with the story as we were with the film-making. And the arty approach doesn't detract from your enjoyment of this show.
