schneckenhausDie Pyramiden von Stob bestehen aus rötlichen Sandsteinen, die in langen Erosionsprozessen geformt wurden. Auffällig sind ihre Hüte aus härterem Gestein, die vor weiterer Abtragung schützen. Dadurch entstanden die charakteristischen, säulenartigen Figuren.

Bob TregilusThe centimeter wide rock layer that records the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary that ended the rein of the dinosaurs. (It's the brown layer between the coal & light claystone layers.) It was created by the fallout of a 12km impactor that created the 250km wide Chicxulub crater offshore of the Yucatán Peninsula. The layer contains shocked quartz & an anomalous concentration of the element iridium marking an extraterrestrial impact.

Lagos Moquehue hacia el oeste (der) y Aluminé hacia el este (izq) sus cuencas son dos grandes cubetas glaciarias producto de la acción erosiva del glaciar troncal M-A generado por la combinación de varios glaciares alpinos que se desplazaban pendiente abajo durante el Pleistoceno. La posterior fusión de dicho glaciar dió nacimiento a dichos lagos.
