#artAdventCalendar Day 13

Since it’s a spooky number day in the *darkest* month of the year, I thought I’d mix things up briefly…

If you look at some of the early @illmarks , my left leg injury switches sides, in the second set even on the same day. What's intuitive to me is the mirror reflection, but I also felt a duty to represent the clinical truth.

As I mentioned above, subjective truth won. It's a project about visual expression.

I draw many of the @illmarks body maps like a mirror, for the most part they depict what's happening internally, so it really doesn't matter what side is what. I mean, I hoped no one looking at examples like these would feel strongly that which leg was which mattered.

At the most I usually portray externally my hair or a mobility aid, which if it's going to the side that it looks like it would in the mirror like in image 3 -- that's how many self portraits have been done historically anyway!

I decided to try to follow my intuition and most of the time treat the figures like a mirror to reflect what I'm feeling into -- so an exceptionally keen eye might notice forward facing figures will often have my injury on what would be their right leg, while back facing figures will have it on what would be their left leg.

Dawn

While working in Tokyo for 9 months, I had a stint of night shift. On my days off, not wanting up upset my sleep schedule, I would go for short night & dawn walks with my cane.

This was one of the most beautiful, even before I had my fun with the colors.

One of the few things I miss deeply about living in LA is proximity to my friends to collaborate with.

Where things like this could really be a whim “Hey T, I had an idea for a set! Bring some black and gold costume options... Let’s play.”
