I draw many of the @illmarks body maps like a mirror, for the most part they depict what's happening internally, so it really doesn't matter what side is what. I mean, I hoped no one looking at examples like these would feel strongly that which leg was which mattered.
At the most I usually portray externally my hair or a mobility aid, which if it's going to the side that it looks like it would in the mirror like in image 3 -- that's how many self portraits have been done historically anyway!
I decided to try to follow my intuition and most of the time treat the figures like a mirror to reflect what I'm feeling into -- so an exceptionally keen eye might notice forward facing figures will often have my injury on what would be their right leg, while back facing figures will have it on what would be their left leg.
