@glovis

You should respect the #nobot if you are a #bot!

🧐

@Lassalle I'm sorry. I don't know why it's not respecting #nobot

It seems that some people may need more informations about what followbot are and why I have one on this server.

First, feel free to block this bot if it annoys you.

Due to the nature of the fediverse it is hard for a single user instance or small instances to federate and get a diverse federated timeline.
An instance only gets posts from other instances that knows that it exists.
To fix that the different fediverse software servers have their solutions.
For Pleroma and Akkoma there are relays, but most of them are poor quality, badly moderated and depends on a remote admin to manage it.
The alternative to relays are followbots. It's a simple rule in pleroma's software that uses this account to request follows from unknown users on unknown instances.
It's supposed to follow #nobot. But it might fail to respect it. I didn't write the bots code and don't know how to fix it if it fail, sorry, block the bot I guess…

@outofcontrol

Searching for @followbot at my Profile Seach, I get:

"Followbot

@followbot

Automated

Personal note
This bot is used to improve federation of my instance.

Feel free to follow back, I won't post anything.

I should be respecting #nobot if it's in your bio."

If this concerns you, #Mute and #Block

Personally I have no interests in building a bot's (and its owner's) Following account stats

Why can't the owner just Follow profiles organically like every one else?

#Followbot #Bots #Follows #Mastodon

can't believe I had to put #nobot back in my bio

just made and ate an entire box of kraft mac n cheese
dw im not crazy i substituted the mystery powder for real cheese & cream
we'll see how i feel in the morning lol

#cheese #meta #fediblock #nobot

@AlcorNews

Hello,
thank you for your answer, welcome and thank you for the follow.
As well from me to you all the very best and a happy weekend :)
with kind regards,
grobi

#nobot

I also notice again and again that the #nobot hashtag is not respected by bots.

Luckily I opted out
'automatically accept followers',
so I can not only reject them,
but also make them visible to other users through short replies as
"Hello bot or not" and the added hashtags #nobot #fediverse #mastodon #bots ...

If everyone who is human and don't want to be followed by bots , datascrapers etc., would do so,
we could probably stop them more...

What do you think about this idea, is it useful or nonsense??

@stairjoke

1. Totally wrong. Learn how Activitypub protocol works.

2. See opt-out. Put #nobot, it's easy enough.
