Garden pond, 2nd version

1/ I dug the central part of the hole a bit deeper, then pulled out and relocated the old pond. The deepest part of the hole is solid clay. You can just see the pebble layer that marks the transition from clay to soil.

2/ I hope the pile of turf can be used as an access route by the three newts and a frog that are in the pond.

I've started digging the hole for a new pond. The old pond is an old sink that was in my kitchen for 65 years until I modernised it.

The new pond will use a pre-formed liner made of HDPE. It's about 1.6 m by 1.2 m in area and up to 45 cm deep.

A couple of robins were gathering food from the freshly dug soil, but disappeared as soon as I fetched my camera.

This morning our backyard's mini pond had its annual #spring cleaning and its mini #waterfall got turned on for the season, and I joked that #frogs would arrive (they come every #summer and make our #pond their home <3), and... when my mom and I were at our weekly ceramics class this afternoon, my dad texted us that he spotted two little frogs in the skimmer box! 🐸
