My #artAdventCalendar is running a bit late and out of sorts as to be expected so I thought I’d make it up by starting off with a twofer:

(still catching up #spoonie )
This started as a vibes-based plein air, that kept lacking that certain something until I came home and a few months later, boldly went for a contrasting sunset instead of daylight.

One of the few things I miss deeply about living in LA is proximity to my friends to collaborate with.
Where things like this could really be a whim “Hey T, I had an idea for a set! Bring some black and gold costume options... Let’s play.”

Dawn
While working in Tokyo for 9 months, I had a stint of night shift. On my days off, not wanting up upset my sleep schedule, I would go for short night & dawn walks with my cane.
This was one of the most beautiful, even before I had my fun with the colors.

Brief intermission: Have a blanket & seat warmer, northern hemi; soft breeze & cool bevvy, southern hemi.
If you've been enjoying this thread, *and you can comfortably spare it*, maybe buy me a ko-fi?
The last month has been a lot more expensive than expected since I broke my left foot. On top of the additional medical bills for ortho/so many x-rays/medical devices, I've needed a wee bit more therapy (In December 2015 I had the trauma to my lower left extremity that started this whole thing, happy anniversary!), plus food deliveries when I'm home alone/less mobile.
Anything is a huge help, thank you so much:

Since it’s a spooky number day in the *darkest* month of the year, I thought I’d mix things up briefly…

Let’s bring some light into this darkest month, shall we? Here’s my first neon sculpture.
Day 17 - Pop Art
I'm falling behind again, and would love some #alt4me help with these please. Thank you thank you!!
day 18 - sea candle
day 19
Day 20
Does anyone else remember when one of Yayoi Kusama’s pumpkins was swept into the sea during a typhoon?
It felt like such a metaphor to me for the last (now) decade. Oh to be a storm & sea tossed pumpkin! I had a postcard of that exact pumpkin, and knew what I had to do.
May the seas & typhoons be gentle with you, pump-kin.
Day 21 - matcha bowl
I’ve only dabbled in ceramics but I’m thankful for the time I got to spend with it.
I hope to be able to return when I’m healthier enough to have a craft which involves time & clean up a bit more strictly.

Lighting interactive sculpture which made reflections like soft upward downy feathers, or diagonally striking feather shafts / rachis.
FYI there are bots that can help with alt text for images. You follow the bot, it follows you back, and if you post an image without alt text, it replies with suggested text (no idea how it's generated). Then you can edit the post with the image and copypasta the suggested text into the alt text field.
that's an incredible compliment from art history@WheresMyWater thank you!! And yes, I love LEDs for what they are able to do when done well, but they’re so different. The noble gasses have such a visceral feel!
I took this class at the Museum of Neon Art in LA (Glendale) and am always so happy to see places like it, public neon display areas in cities, etc 🥲
@valentine Ty Ty!!!
I realized I said “first” without finishing the thought lol — I haven’t done more yet but I REALLY want to! Hopefully when illness is a bit better & geography is more conduc(t)ive
(Brain fog been real bad without the good med)
@anglemaece yes!! making things is fun.
And (no rush) please feel free to tag me *if you want* I would love to see.
