Twitter/X is right wing controlled.

Meta (Instagram, Threads, Facebook) is right wing aligned.

TikTok is aligning itself with Trump.

Crypto-centric decentralized platforms are right wing aligned (the jury's out about whether crypto-funded ones are too).

Major newspapers are aligning themselves around the right wing.

Whoever controls the narrative has the ability to obfuscate and overwrite the truth.

The Fediverse is more important for freedom than ever before.

A good practice right now, and I will have trouble doing it but am sure going to try, is to withhold reactions to provocations as long as possible. Allow time for the frontal cortex to engage rather than just letting the amygdala react without reflection.
The Fediverse is a network of thousands of independent servers, running lots of different kinds of software. Some of them are Mastodon servers, some of them are Pixelfed servers, some of them are PeerTube servers... there are dozens of different kinds!

But all of them are connected together into a single social network called the Fediverse. You don't need to be on the same server to follow and interact with someone, in fact you don't even need to be on the same type of server. People on a Mastodon server can interact with people on a Pixelfed server etc.

There is a non-technical guide to the Fediverse at https://fedi.tips/what-is-mastodon-what-is-the-fediverse and a list of reasons why it's on so many servers at https://fedi.tips/why-is-the-fediverse-on-so-many-separate-servers

Before the next major rainstorm hits- here’s what’s blooming in our garden. No matter how horrible things are in the news, these beauties enliven my spirit.

They remind me of how important it is to include it all - the painful & the beautiful.

Those things that feel like death - AND that which is alive & growing. It’s important , friends, to face toward the light, like our plants do. #mindfulness #gardening

There's a very simple reason why #Trump kept claiming he 'won the election'
(he knows he's lost them)

Trump knows (as any good scammer)
that no one gives money to a loser
if trump had admitted to losing
he would also have lost the #MAGAs donation money
and Trump cannot financially afford to stop milking his fans
Trump has to appear 'so much winning'
to keep milking #MAGA 'udder' (boob) to the last drop
it is the only true income he has.

Elon Musk, who claimed to be a "free speech absolutist," is censoring tweets in Turkey ahead of critical elections at the request of the autocrats currently in power

One of the most important reasons we have libraries is to ensure that there are no barriers to access knowledge. Not all families can afford books, nor can they access the internet (even if they can afford it).

This is an equity issue and a First Amendment issue. Censoring the bookshelves is a step to regimented thinking. Nobody should support it.

Llano County officials must offer library books they’d removed, judge says

Local officials are appealing the order in a lawsuit that drew national attention. Seven library patrons say the book removals infringed their First Amendment rights.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Unless you’ve been living under the Blarney Stone you already know that March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day. Also affectionately known as St. Paddy’s Day, it’s the one day each year that everyone and anyone can call themselves Irish – if not by birthright, then in spirit.

“I want to put the ever-rushing world on pause —
slow it down, so that I can breathe.
These bones are aching to tell me something —
but I cannot hear them.”
