Today at 12:30, European Parliament will vote whether or not to extend the existing temporary derogation which allows voluntary chatcontrol: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/agenda/weekly-agenda/2026-11#agenda-day20260311:~:text=Proposal%20for%20a%20regulation%20of%20the%20European%20Parliament%20and%20of%20the%20Council%20amending%20Regulation%20%28EU%29%202021%2F1232%20as%20regards%20the%20extension%20of%20its%20period%20of%20application
The LIBE committee decided to reject the proposal due to disagreements https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/A-10-2026-0040_EN.html , but a few days later fractions representing around 397/720 MEPs agreed on changes: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/seance_pleniere/textes_deposes/prop_resolution/2026/0040/amendements/P10_AMA(2026)0040(001-003)_EN.pdf so the extension will likely pass. Hundreds of scientists say stop! âđš
Governments should pause plans for mandatory #AgeChecks on online services until serious #privacy and #security concerns are addressed.
As countries push to ban children from social media, the risk to everyoneâs privacy is growing. đđ

hot take: @protonprivacy didnât fail you. YOUR OPSEC failed you.
encryption â anonymity. these are not the same thing and never have been.
Proton did exactly what they said theyâd do - encrypted your emails and complied with lawful Swiss legal orders. thatâs the whole deal. thatâs what you signed up for.
the credit card you used to pay for your âanonymousâ account was never part of the encryption. that was always traceable. that was always a liability.
and hereâs the kicker - Proton literally accepts Monero and cash. they gave you the tools. you chose the Visa.

Users of @protonvpn, how would you rate their service - especially as a linux user? I've heard that their Linux app is lacking. I am looking to swap over from Mullvad considering that I already pay for @protonmail and @simplelogin already. Would you recommend it?
Advance, the company that controls Reddit, would be wise to replace the CEO whose mismanagement and arrogance has led moderators of thousands of subreddits to go private in protest.
Put someone in place who realizes that the communities made the service in every way that matters.
Maybe Advance is hoping the protestors will go weak-kneed (as so many people on Twitter have done, sadly) and return.
Moderators, please, please don't back down on this. Stay dark.
(Corrected re extent of strike..)
