I’ve been in Manchester today for the #MarchwithMidwives event - wow what a turnout. Calling for government to:

- fund maternity service properly
- value midwives & families
- invest in social infrastructure

Powerful speeches from MPs, parents, unions, midwives and others. The love band playing in support and a choir too. Everyone acknowledging that this is a crisis.

@garius I'm a potter in the U.S. But since I'm not a production potter & my work is in a gallery, I probably won't have a lot for this holiday season. (oops - poor planning on my part. Should have made a lot more stuff in the past few months...)

(Thank you for doing this! It's very generous of you.)

I came to ceramics with a long held belief that I wasn’t artistic. In 2008, I took a parent/teen clay class with my youngest son and discovered that my hands had a wisdom of their own.

I’m feeling hugely indebted to @RussInCheshire for explaining the rise of Farage and UKIP and the prelude to Brexit in a way that only a retrospective could do. Honestly folks, treat yourself to ‘The Decade in Tory’. It’s a huge book but that’s because the last third of an inch is just the comprehensive references.

@MoreFrances literature reviews often encourage me to do other things. According to Self-determination theory, a feeling of autonomy is a strong intrinsic motivator. That does often mean I make the autonomous choice to do something I enjoy more than my literature review.
Succumbed to temptation and went out for a walk. Did not think about my literature review. Feel better for it!
Today's reminder:
Wash your hands.

I would have missed this moment if my son had not shouted about the rainbow as we walked away. A fleeting moment nearly lost because I was looking in the wrong direction.

Ynys Seiriol and the Trwyn Du lighthouse perfectly framed by a rainbow which only lasted a few seconds.

One of my precious peaceful days when the children are at their dad's, and outside is still and misty and autumnal. I haven't been out for a walk in probably weeks and it looks so tempting...

And yet here I am doing some long overdue reading for my literature review and staring wistfully out of the window... sigh
