Did I just save this file as “syllabus_final”?

Yes, yes I did.

Is it really the final version?

No, it probably isn’t.

Finally, over 70 years after her passing. Research companies made billions after her death while the family struggled without their mother.

I highly suggest reading the book “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” if anyone enjoys those recommendations.

As many of you know, the third party iPhone/iPad app Metatext is no longer being maintained as the lead developer had health issues. However, there is now a community-maintained version of the app called Feditext. You can follow the latest news about it at:

This is why, for all its flaws, we have tenure in #Academia.

Tenure is meant to protect freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of knowledge.

It is meant to be an institutionalised system to protect democratic debate and to speak, without fear, in the public interest.

Tenure is the hill.

@TonyStark He exceeded my expectations especially considering that he had to deal with Manchin and Sinema, not to mention the entire Republican party. He was not my choice but it may be that my choice could not have accomplished as much even though she is more progressive.
What are some Mastodon accounts that are particularly good on politics, policy and public health? Looking to find more folks to follow, and would love recommendations!
I was searching for images for a talk yesterday, & discovered that you can pull up vivid "warming stripes" from UK meteorologist Ed Hawkins for every US state and for regions around the world. This is Washington state, where I live. Red years are hotter than average. Yeah it’s sobering but it gives us all a common starting point for talking about what’s happening. #climate https://showyourstripes.info
