"President Donald Trump called out five cities across the United States as he discussed his decision to formally declare a public safety emergency in #WashingtonDC, triggering a federal takeover of the city's police department.

"Trump's remarks insinuated that #Baltimore, #Chicago, #LosAngeles, #NewYorkCity and #Oakland could face a similar effort from his administration, with the president saying the effort to address crime and homelessness in the U.S. would 'go further' as he specifically named the cities.

"Speaking from the White House alongside Defense Secretary #PeteHegseth, Attorney General #PamBondi, and other cabinet officials, Trump announced 800 National Guard troops will be sent to the capital to 'reestablish law, order and public safety.'

"He also invoked federal authority to take over the Metropolitan Police Department, citing 'special conditions of an emergency nature' under the District of Columbia's Home Rule Act.

"The move marks one of the most aggressive federal interventions in local law enforcement in recent history. While the president holds direct command over the D.C. National Guard, governors typically control Guard units in their own states.

Trump has signaled he may extend similar measures to other Democratic-led cities, naming Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Baltimore as potential targets for federal deployments.

" 'We have other cities also that are bad. Very bad,' Trump said during the press conference on Monday. 'You look at Chicago, how bad it is. You look at Los Angeles, how bad it is. We have other cities that are very bad. New York has a problem. And then you have, of course, Baltimore and Oakland. We don't even mention that anymore there.' "

Lot of hype going into this one. It's very good and every piece of music is phenomenal. But idk...I saw it twice to confirm the feeling and I can shake the sense of cognitive dissonance of the movie being interestingly novel and groaningly trope-y.

Everything up to the "big music scene" and the first death feels great. After that the movie kinda struggled to keep my attention.

Still definitely worth a watch.

Can somebody give me a rundown on www.irsihstar.com. It feels like I'm seeing this publication whenever I hear about the latest pyscho thing the Trump admin is doing. Is #IrishStar a tabloid?, A shoot off from from another major company? Tried internet sleuthing but found nothing.

I read article from them about the current white house press sec about lack of power in homes being fine because "Jesus never had electricity", or something to that effect. But I could find the original source of that AT ALL! Rubbed me the wrong way and now I'm sus of them and where TF they came from...

#moviereview of #TheMonkey.

Genuinely a fun time overall. More dark comedy than horror movie, but I kinda like it that way. The goofy tone is set in the first scene and is consistent throughout. All the actors are fine. No big standouts, but a few fun cameos.

Pretty good intro and set up for the "mystery" big bad. Most action scenes were engaging, final one especially. Could have benefited from borrowing more espionage cinematography/style from #CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier. If you've seen the very cringe/milk-toast finale speech from #FalconAndTheWinterSoldier this movie does no better in that department. #AnthonyMackie #HarrisonFord are good. #CarlLumbly is REALLY GOOD. #GiancarloEsposito was wasted.
