What’s the best way to talk to someone who you perceive to be different to you? #race
1) Don’t assume they are different to you
2) If you must know where they are from, believe them at their first answer
3) Understand that cultural dress is a choice and doesn’t affect your nationality
4) Make conversation about the professional reason they are in that space not the racial/identity reason
5) Don’t touch any part of them without consent and know that it is weird to ask to to in on first meeting
A bit niche, but I'm looking for people in the #RettSyndrome #SETD5Syndrome #Autism #LearningDisability #Epilepsy community. Our daughter has all of the above. Would love to meet fellow #ParentCarer #UnpaidCarer folks

Twitter emboldened people with outrageously bad takes or racist & bigoted views to share them for the rush of a viral tweet. It silenced already marginalized voices through threats & intimidation.

Twitter rewarded narcissism with follows & gave tremendous power to people least deserving of leadership roles or equipped for public service.

It was never the “town square” but often the mob with pitchforks & torches. If #Twitter falls, democracy & humanity will be better off. #TwitterMigration

Almost 180k new users joined #mastodon yesterday, a new record. This third #twitterMigration wave happened after Musk's Twitter 2.0 ultimatum to #Twitter workers. Each wave is stronger than the previous one. Here is my updated plot showing the three consecutive waves.
Introduction time. 👋🏾 My name is Izzy. I’m a science nerd - working on a range of things including building microscopes, looking at living things, writing code and leading a talented team of researchers. I currently live in sunny Sheffield (🇬🇧. via 🇱🇰, 🇳🇿 & 🇦🇺 ) with my other half @JessGifkins whom i share so many passions incl Latin dance, social justice & the outdoors. As a 🏳️‍⚧️ woman of Asian descent, I also have a few things to say about Equality, Inclusion & Diversity… also Bounty chocolate.
On the advice of my #LongCovid clinic nurse, I’ve switched to de-caff tea. Was expecting headaches, increased tiredness and have had the opposite experience. I’m a #tea addict and I would definitely recommend giving this a go
People grumbling that #Mastodon is slow at the moment... You just turned up with 1 million people in a tiny, rural village and you're complaining there's a queue to get into the only tearoom, which is run by gay pensioners Babs & Maureen as a retirement hobby on Mons-Weds. Relax!

UPDATE: no need for further boosting. Thank you everyone!

My boss, Matt Mullenweg, the boss of Automattic, owner of Tumblr, is looking for ex-Twitter employees for Tumblr, saying,

"we're putting on a fast track to see how they can help super-charge Tumblr. We can't absorb thousands of people, but I'd be open to hiring entire teams if they already work great together."

“@levelsio @automattic In particular I'd say people leaving @twitter we're putting on a fast track to see how they can help super-charge @tumblr. We can't absorb thousands of people, but I'd be open to hiring entire teams if they already work great together.”
