Beautiful, if frigid, morning at the salt marsh today. Sun rising over the frost and ice-filled vegetation with our radar system overlooking it all on a rise. Looking forward to checking what was moving through last night, particularly over the windfarm in the distance.

Do you have a favourite mammal photo? Mine has to be this Viscacha, a high elevation member of the family Chinchillidae. We saw several in the altiplano of northern Chile and they all seemed to be sleepy, like this one enjoying the sun at > 4,000 m.
Life is slower at high elevation.

Final update for today. The marine radar is out and working. Already picked up a few birds flying over the #windfarm nearby.
The idea will be to use this, paired with some other methods, to understand #waterfowl #movement through the area and risk factors associated with #windfarms and transmission lines.

Horned Lark maps attached (my #PhD species). Some really intense hotspots of decline. We definitely need more information from the high density northern and #mountain populations though.
