Cities aren’t crowded. They’re just full of cars.
they put a christmas sweater on the t-rex at the national history museum in london and it's ridiculous and adorable

#introduction

I'm Alli, I am a phd student studying #migration #ecology of Mountain plovers. I'm broadly interested in #behavioralecology. Although most of my research is in the realm of #ornithology, I'm curious about why all kinds of animals do what they do!

What do you think they are talking about?

Update...still working!

Will my thermal imaging camera come back from the dead after last night's frost? Stay tuned to find out 🤞

Beautiful, if frigid, morning at the salt marsh today. Sun rising over the frost and ice-filled vegetation with our radar system overlooking it all on a rise. Looking forward to checking what was moving through last night, particularly over the windfarm in the distance.

Hello Mastodon world! 🦉
Did you know that *every one* of the millions of #iNaturalist observations gets looked at by a volunteer identifier before it can reach "research grade", and get shared with the international biodiversity database #GBIF? Here's a new science paper listing some of the many important reasons why it's good for everyone with some taxonomic expertise, including scientists, to be identifiers on #iNaturalist. (I'm one of the many authors.) https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pbio.3001843 #biodiversity #taxonomy #CitizenScience
The benefits of contributing to the citizen science platform iNaturalist as an identifier

As the number of observations submitted to the citizen science platform iNaturalist continues to grow, it is increasingly important that these observations can be identified to the finest taxonomic level, maximizing their value for biodiversity research. Here, we explore the benefits of acting as an identifier on iNaturalist.
