I want to publish zines and rage against machines. Into Linux, FOSS, writing, TTRPGs, bikes, typewriters, and stuff. I can't guarantee I have anything interesting to say, but I sure have fun saying it.
A friend showed me this and this feels suspicious as fuck. I showed some activist friends of mine and we are all getting the same vibe. I don't know what it is, but it feels like a trap. Be safe, friends.

Cut out the bloated administration, ignore the government's bullshit, and just focus on teaching small groups of students who actually want to be there. This can actually be done!

I've been watching with great interest the example of Outer Coast in Alaska as they set up the infrastructure to become a two-year college. outercoast.org

As well as more activist-oriented projects like the W.E.B. Du Bois Movement School in Philly.

There are tons of examples of grassroots, autonomous education projects like these. The Highlander Folk School, the Institute for Social Ecology, Lamplight. Small groups of people can make this happen--and pretty soon we might *need* to.

Y'all I'm not joking when I say that we gotta start thinking about how to build our own institutions of higher education.
@ChilidogGarand Or consume media hypercritically, with appropriate ironic distance.

Physically exhausted from the constant unspoken requirement that neurodivergence be masked with a veneer of neurotypicality. Can't be letting it frustrate people, can we?

Must be normal at all times.
Must consume entertainment uncritically.
Must not be interested in the wrong things.
Must somehow understand what the right things to be interested in are.
Must not be -too- interested in the right things.
Must know how interested in the right things one is allowed to be.

Sit down, shut up, and watch Disney Plus so you can talk about the Mandalorian at work.

Love getting these emails saying my student loans are going to resume and I need to provide my tax information from last year. Jokes on you, I couldn't afford to pay my taxes either, lol.

I love our very functional system.

After reading @pluralistic's latest piece on planned obsolescence as technofeudalism, I stumbled across this Tumblr post about how a rusty old 100-year-old Singer sewing machine can be restored to FEARSOME, SUPERIOR working order compared to any newish machine, by swapping in standard-sized parts that attach with standard flat-head screws

Meanwhile the modern machine's plastic parts wear out quickly and very little is attached with standard screws. It also depends on software that's now glitching

Tumblr

Tumblr is a place to express yourself, discover yourself, and bond over the stuff you love. It's where your interests connect you with your people.

Just to circle back to this because i am inventing a specific guy to yell about: talking about what you think it isn't is about the most boring route you can take. You're just making a blanket statement apropos of nothing. At least talk about what it could be and introduce some god damn levity into your life.

Nobody even said "its aliens". You look ignorant. GROW UP DOUG.

I fucking had to listen to liberal internet beardos spew nonsense about cryptocurrency and gamestop and ai and shit for like ten years. Just shut the fuck up and fuck off all the way back to r/atheism and give me ten seconds of peace where i can believe that someone has come from across the stars to play chicken with navy pilots.

"It's never aliens"

Hey you know what man shut the fuck up. Just let us fucking weirdos enjoy this and give us this one small break from some science news that isnt the world being a prequel to tank girl.
