Unfortunate timing that he has to leave the country just as the Ontario legislature is reopening and set to meet for the first time tomorrow. Really bizarre that there was no time at all for the trip during the winter break. I guess 14 weeks wasn't long enough 🤷‍♂️

With the completion of any political party leadership election, I hope everyone asks their parties, MPs and candidates…

"Why can't we all have ranked ballot in our general elections!? "

You think executive orders are bad? The notwithstanding clause makes any excess you care to name perfectly constitutional. Right now they're only dipping their toes into its use but rest assured more and more extreme will come when the challenge fails.

Libman: Minority rights hang in the balance after Supreme Court hearings

Bill 21 challenge reminds us that charters of rights are meant to serve as a blueprint for governments to respect, and for courts to protect.

Heat pump people!

My quotes expired waiting on the federal government loan program that is now out of money, *sad trombone noises*.

So I'm paying out of pocket entirely now.

Went to a trade show yesterday and chatted with a bunch of people from various companies.

New quote:

Hisense (The large Chinese manufacturer).

Based on specs, it's very comparable to Panasonic & Daikin but far cheaper and great warranties.

It rarely gets cold enough here to make Mitusbishis worth it.

It occurred to me this morning that it has now been over a decade in which we have all been forced to hear something about Donald Trump every fucking day - often many times a day.

There are people in journalism who have no experience of a world in which we actually covered many different topics in a day.

I feel like I've been mentally force fed McDonalds for ten years non-stop.

I would like it to be over before I die, please.

@mayintoronto On that note, it was good to know that Ontario Green Party leader, Mike Schreiner, was out making the rounds at the Fight Ford protest in Guelph today.😁

Holy shit. The NDP voted out their establishment/continuity slate of officers. The delegates voted for the new progressive slate of candidates, signalling the evolution of the party back towards its socialist roots.

"There is an establishment slate and a progressive left slate which has Niall (president), Libby Davies (VP) and Keira Gunn (Treasurer)"

Massive upset in the officer leadership at #ndp2026 -- the "continuity" slate was defeated by a last-minute slate that included Libby Davies. Only people in the room are allowed to vote on this and so it not only seals the Lewis victory, but it also shows that support goes deep.
