#neuroscientist based at the #OVGU Magdeburg and interested in the neural basis of social-sexual behaviors

It's time for a proper #introduction.

I'm a postdoc at the Weizmann Institute, currently working on optical GPCR based inhibition of synaptic transmission. AKA DREADDs but with light 😉. We recently accumulated our thoughts and knowledge here:

Dealing with all kinds of optogenetic methods and tool development, patch-clamp, imaging, and nasty molecular biology.

I write what I think/photography #FluorescenceFriday/activities in nature/gardening, wood-crafting/music.

Optogenetics at the presynapse - Nature Neuroscience

This Review provides a comprehensive overview of presynaptic applications of optogenetic tools, including the associated challenges, current limitations and future directions for this approach.

Join us – Neural Circuits of Social Behaviour

It looks like this platform might finally become more populated, so let me (re)introduce this page.

Neurofrontiers is a bilingual blog about interesting neuroscience topics that tries to be accessible to the broader public while still maintaining scientific accuracy. It's run by a team of three people: a computational neuroscientist, a psychologist, and a graphic designer. We think that being on social media allows us to stay up-to-date with the most recent discussions in science and hope to be able to connect with like-minded individuals.

To anyone with eyes: ever wonder how visual signals get to the motor system? We did. So we mapped the anatomy in mouse cortex and made it into sweet eye candy: the great work of @KarolineHovde @Idavrautio Andrea-Marie Hegstad, with Menno Witter!

Another #introduction …this time public
I am a #neuroscientist based at the #ovgu university Magdeburg.
After a PhD in Berlin with Michael Brecht and a postdoc in the lab of Susana Lima at the Champalimaud Foundation I recently joined the institute of biology in Magdeburg as a tenured researcher and professor.
My lab will study how neural circuits are at the interface between the multimodal environment and the homeostatic body in order to drive social and sexual behavior in mice.
