So I made a list today of the stuff I need to do with my new house. Uuuuugh.

Finish putting up backer-board in the bathroom so the new tub/shower surround can be installed
Re-glue concrete front porch steps
Paint master bedroom and living room
Actually move in
Have couch, kitchen stools, pet-bed and new bed delivered
Buy and mount pegboard in basement
Mount pot-rack in kitchen
Clean out air conditioner
Get sump cover and caulk it(?)
Replace front door locks
Fix garage-patio-soffit holes
Find area rugs
Get drapes for living room if needed
Measure backyard garden plot
Level backyard garden plot

Re-grade ground around foundation
Have electrical supply line replaced and garage line buried
Investigate water softening options
Build painting booth with ventilation in basement

Fix damaged garage doorframe

I'm moving into my first home next month, and still trying to figure out decor stuff. At the moment I'm leaning towards theming 4 rooms after seasons. Do any of you have any decor or #furniture at home you love that would fit?

I have never lived alone until the last few months, and still haven't if you're counting a cat as company.

I've always needed roommates to afford a place to stay (at least to avoid the anxiety of living paycheck to paycheck.) Now I'm in a position to buy my own place, but it will just be me the majority of the time.

Maybe it's just the early darkness and the cold of November but it's a lonely thought.

But just like many finicky cats, I don't think I'd enjoy living full-time with a partner either. Not living in each other's laps 24/7 is a given, but it's hard for me to ask for time/space apart. I really need to learn it's okay to ask and won't make my partner feel I love them less. I'm just wired to need time alone, before coming back for clingy cuddle sessions.

My mental health isn't bad these days. Filled out one of those assessments at the doc's the other day and yeah, things look brighter than they have in a long while. Hope I can stop waiting for the other shoe soon. #vent #RL

For some reason I recalled the boss fights in FFT today, and what a big impression they made on me back when I first played the game.

There really hadn't been *anything* supernatural to speak of till this point. It's not just a WTF moment for the game's heroes but for the player too. The music is sharply ominous, the sound effects are eerie, and the colored lightshow makes it very obvious this is all so unnatural it looks *fake* somehow. Then the transformed cardinal is revealed, triggering horror and revulsion. He's perverted not just his office but his body.

FFT did an excellent job manipulating my emotions. It showed people on different sides of issues, presenting you with morally gray situations, but it had all been human vs human until this encounter. What would you do if your worldview was torn to shreds in a moment like this?

I decided not to stop and camp on the way back home, but drive straight through, about six hours. I did stop at #Tamarack marketplace on a recommendation, and I'm glad I did. It's set up to let local artisans sell their wares, everything from quilts to preserves to blown glass & paintings. There are even some ceramic, glass, and wood workshops in the building with areas a small audience can watch from, which I thought was a brilliant idea.

Virginia wasn't as far along yet in the color change, so most of the hills and looming mountains were still carpeted in just green.

As night fell completely, traffic growing more sparse by the minute, I found myself driving a stretch of freshly painted road with no edgelines & pristine asphalt. It was like driving on glass above a sea of ink, and I surprised myself with how unnerved I grew.

The whole adventure reminded me I have more freedom than I exercise, for better or worse.
