@david @edintone @RobertJackson58585858 It’s a fairly new option; I think it’s been available for 2-3 months. Depending on the year there’s a choice of paper certificate by post for £11, PDF certificate by email for £7, or the digital extract for £2.50 (which is available straight after payment). It’s a bit too easy sometimes … 😉😂

@edintone @RobertJackson58585858 A new option for English and Welsh birth and death records is that you can now order a digital download of a record entry for £2.50. This is NOT a certificate, but it’s a useful and immediate way to access information. It’s available for births 1837-1922 and deaths 1837-1887 currently. An example is shown below. Civil registration is different in Scotland and Ireland. #Genealogy

#Genocide
5 of the most #violence ridden countries in the world are in Africa. In Somalia in 2022 there were over 6,500 reported fatalities. Murder, rape & kidnapping are prevelant.

The unequal #news coverage is notable & seems dependent on economic & ethnic factors. #oppression and desperation leads to #terrorism. #tribalism & #hatred breeds more violence and hatred. All terrorism deserves comdemnation. Including retaliatory terrorism.

We have selective tunnel vision. The #media in its obsession with the "newest, bright, shiny object" does us all a great disservice. Have you ever heard of Mao Zedong? From 1958 to 1962, his policies led to the deaths of up to 45 million people, the largest episode of mass murder ever recorded & most of us have never heard of it. Genocide is all around us. Not just in #israel. The unequal coverage of genocide in the #rohingya, #darfur vs. #ukraine & Israel. Food for thought. Enough! The slaughter of innocents whether by Hamas, Putin or Netanyahu is to be condemned.

@bjnlsgenealogy How exciting! With my 2GGF brick wall it was a combination of DNA sleuthing and traditional research that nailed it. I was also lucky to have someone else more expert than me review the DNA work. He came to the same conclusion before I shared the circumstantial evidence.

Sometimes you get lucky with #FamilyHistory research and uncover a treasure trove. I’m researching a #WW1 soldier and his Army record on @AncestryUK runs to 18 pages! Now to disentangle a very complicated story.
