Do you have a passion for local history, genealogy, archives, maps, communities or the stories hidden within place? We’d love to hear from you.

The Society of Genealogists is now inviting speaker submissions for All About That Place 2026, the much-loved virtual event celebrating place, community and family history research.

Running from 7–16 October 2026, this unique online event brings together researchers, historians, genealogists, archivists and heritage enthusiasts for a series of short, engaging talks designed to inspire and educate.

Last year I took part in #allaboutthatplace with "Thatcham: Whats in a name?" - see https://youtube.com/watch?v=1U9jYQTqwjE. Looking at doing it again this year, short 10 min piece. Looking at possibly Roman Thatcham, Saxon Thatcham
or Dunston House (our last manor house). Thoughts? Suggestions?

Home/family life has been chaotic recently, lots going on. But finally, I have an entire day to myself (bliss!) and am going to get stuck into #AllAboutThatPlace talks. Using the fabulous spreadsheet from the Facebook group, priority is the talks that are disappearing today.
Thank you so much to everyone for the talks & organisation, and a huge thank you to those speakers who are allowing their talks to remain available for a while longer.
