I'm feeling super weird in starting to contribute here with plain self-promotion but anyway: I’m excited to speak about my PhD at the RMZ Berlin next week and discuss my current efforts to theorise my empirical data. I will speak about how social scientists based in the South negotiate global inequalities of knowledge production in their resarch career practices and I'm looking forward to the feedback! If you’re interested, please register here - the more the merrier! :) https://www.rmz.hu-berlin.de/de/termine/negotiation-zones-of-knowledge-colonial-legacies-research-and-career-making-by-caribbean-social-scientists

I'm in the distinctly weird situation of having three complete criminology/sociology papers about dinosaurs that I need to submit somewhere. They are meaningful, I swear, but even placing one in a journal is a lot. Has anyone else navigated having a lot of research and theoretical results to report on a weird topic? Any advice for someone with a lot of T. rex stuff that (I promise) goes beyond T. rexes?

@gayeozpinar @AlexSanterne @academicchatter @academicsunite I had over 50,000 followers on twitter. Yes, you get more attention than you do here and attention is addictive. But it's possible to get over the dopamine dependency if you're genuinely interested in talking to people. It took two weeks or so for me.
omnia migrant.

Hi there!

Wanted to #introduce myself after having moved to sciences.social.

I am a #sociologist working as a junior professor for #highereducation research at Humboldt-Universität #Berlin.

Most of my work revolves around academic #careers, #evaluation, and #disciplines. Two #research projects are on postdoc careers and the notion of risky research.

Looking forward to collegial exchange!
