this is me but not just for shampoo, for everything
@regehr this made me remember i've gotta order toothpaste
@regehr God damnit. this reminds me that I've been pouring shower water into my long suffering bottle of head and shoulders for like 2 weeks to eek out one more shower.

@regehr

I have to put things in my way to remember. the empty shampoo bottle gets thrown over the shower curtain into the bathroom sink. then when I get out of the shower, I see the bottle and I remember. other things get put in the middle of the kitchen table where they're in the way until I add them to my list.

@coolcalmcollected @regehr My sibling-in-law has a bunch of routines like this to manage their ADHD, like, "This single sock is here on the table as a reminder that I need to fold clothes." Then their in-laws, who are my parents, arrive and try to "help" by "picking up clutter", and the routines fall apart

@coolcalmcollected

I do exactly the same thing to remember ;-)

@regehr

@regehr i mostly get this and then i have a good week where i remember… and buy eggs or whatever every time i visit a grocery store and end up with waaaaay too many
@regehr how about "stepping into Lowe's"? My head gets noticeably lighter as every home project escapes from it at once.
@regehr I have started proactively yelling at Siri over my shower curtain to put shampoo on the grocery list the second I notice because otherwise no shampoo
@kaoudis @regehr I circumvent the dimensional memory barrier by having backup shampoo in the pantry and putting it on the grocery list as soon as I take it into the shower
@regehr Time stops existing in my shower. Things have improved by mounting a clock where I can see it but it’s no silver bullet
@regehr turns out this is also ADHD.
Why Walking through a Doorway Makes You Forget

Scientists measure the "doorway effect," and it supports a novel model of human memory

Scientific American
@regehr
Has anyone tried using an iPhone in the shower? They are supposed to be water resistant and there is a ToDo applet on them.
@BartoszMilewski I’d probably forget to charge it, perhaps a lower tech solution like a waterproof notepad

@regehr
There's also the option of installing an electrical outlet in the shower...

Though, on second thought...☠️

@BartoszMilewski @regehr This installation sounds like a good question for ChatGPT.
@regehr @BartoszMilewski I have a dive slate for this … but then I leave the slate in the shower and forget about it, or leave it out of the shower when I have to write something down.
@regehr @BartoszMilewski I also have a waterproof notepad for backpacking, but while it does survive the occasional drenching, I don’t think it would hold up to regular shower use.
@BartoszMilewski @regehr I've tried this and it doesn't work out. Having water droplets on the screen messes with the capacitance enough to make typing nearly impossible.

it might be very hardto use the touch screen. but why not tell siri?
@regehr I will throw the bottle through the interdimensional portal and into the sink where elsewhen me can discover it. Very Interstellar.

@regehr I feel this.

It’s also the best place to think. Every though evaporates when you exist the doors
