motherfucker why is this on the citizenship test

name one single reason

what kind of test autofellatio is this
@whitequark high-quality cryptic crossword mode happening here

@whitequark Extra weirdness points for the typo and omitting the extremely important fact that you can actually take it in Welsh

Then again, the purpose of this test appears to be to create gammon-faced Little Englanders who think Welsh is only something people in Wales speak as soon as an English person walks in

@dpk no they say you can take it in welsh in the key
@whitequark @dpk because Welsh is an official language. Gaelic on the other hand is not.
@whitequark Only if you arrived with William the Conqueror?
@whitequark
I fully agree with arrangements in French 😋 .
@whitequark if you click True, it plays the first few notes of O Canada and displays a maple leaf flag, and then says "what kind of idiot are you?" in both English and French.

@whitequark

It’s a question designed to test whether you believe Wales or France is part of the UK. It is, in fact, a carefully concealed device to detect when zombie Henry VII attempts to take the test.

@david_chisnall @whitequark Well that could probably also work to detect any king or noble from 1066 to the Hundred Year’s War.
@whitequark i feel that it's true as France and England have a long love-hate relationship
@confusomu minus one point

@whitequark ugh, i forgot that the English despise the French, so such a thing wouldn't be possible :/
got too used to the linguistic particularities in Canada and forgot about the UK…

(but in french, there are more and more anglicismes and english has a lot of elements from french, so i expect both languages to merge in a few millénaires :p)

@confusomu @whitequark Well, we have vey good reasons to hate the British more. They ransacked and pillaged the French country side during the Hundred Years’ War. (While Great Britain was left untouched).
@confusomu @whitequark Also, Mers-El-Kébir for more recent history.
@whitequark the special arrangement:
@whitequark "taken is English" I've seen better worded pub quizzes, and going to a pub quiz might be a better citizenship test. Politicians should be banned from making laws...
@whitequark what, you don't fax your friends to organize social events?
@azonenberg @whitequark no, we obviously have an elaborate codebook of magic numbers to bid on each others eBay auctions.
@HeNeArXn @azonenberg @whitequark I go find a song with a title like "do you want to do a thing with me this weekend" and put it in a shared dropbox that my friends know to check periodically
@whitequark well you know, nowhere else has social media
@whitequark Conservative party donors
@dpk Explain
@whitequark I mean, would you put it past them to try to get advertising in the UK citizenship test
@dpk @whitequark and I guess we can pin them as “conservative” since both websites are deadnamed.
@chrisvest @dpk this is from 3 years ago
@whitequark @dpk ah, fair enough (and also corps aren't people so I think referring to them by prior names is fine)
@whitequark At least they didn't add a "wrong" answer stating "VK and WeChat"
@whitequark Because Facebook and Twitter said they'd be *most disappointed* if they weren't included.
@whitequark Your citizenship application is supported by our friends at Facebook. Immigration and Citizenship, probably.
@whitequark as a person living in germany this is obvious. it’s 2.

@cmb @whitequark as a person from Germany I send a fax to approve this.

(A bridge between Fax and Mastodon sounds like something that could actually exist)
(Is there a matrix puppeteer bridge for Fax?

@shadowwwind @cmb @whitequark
The Chaos Communications Congress has had a FAX to Mastodon bridge bot the past few years.
Not the same as one on the public internet, but a step in that direction.
@shadowwwind @cmb @whitequark I kind of loved when early Twitter allowed interaction via email, sms, etc. I *think fax might have worked…
@cascheranno @shadowwwind @cmb preeeeetty sure fax was not on the table
@whitequark Snailmail and IRC would be a goat answer
@whitequark [cries in itunes ping]
@whitequark Defo email and fax. I would not recommend the other options.
@whitequark if this were Canada, the correct option would be two Canadian social media apps that no-one had ever heard of.
@whitequark because the state is the afk extension of the social networking websites
@whitequark I thought the right answer is "Netflix and Chill"
@whitequark my kid’s down for option e: a degoogled phone, signal, and nextcloud.
@cascheranno guess they'll not gonna make it to britain (arguably, works out in their interest)
@whitequark yeah, I guess. Mostly, it doesn’t doesn’t feel like staying USian is working out in our interest.
@whitequark the UK is most properly understood to be a US unincorporated territory, known in official communications as the “unsinkable aircraft carrier”, etc etc
@whitequark iTunes and eBay are spelled wrong
@saxnot i have eyes too yes
@whitequark ok then let me ignore this and the following toots if you don't want people interacting with you
@saxnot i like interactions that add something worth reading
@whitequark yeah I echo that back
@whitequark I keep thinking you can't possibly find a worse one. And yet, somehow, you always do
@resistor does rage drip in increasing amounts from every post about this test that i'm making? Because it should
