Could it be, that #dhxMedia migrated from #Flash / #AdobeAnimate to #ToonBoomHarmony in the later seasons of #MLPFiM?

  • Or did they got like huge budgets to really amp up #animation quality and visuals?

Cuz I'm pretty shure this #PMV isn't reshading characters and increasing framerate in #animation...

@kkarhan IIRC it was stated DHX used a heavily modified version of Adobe Flash for the entire series, and used Toon Boom Harmony for the movie and specials. I'm not sure about EQG but based on animation quality it seems like EQG was moved to TBH at some point.

@FuturisticRobert makes sense as #Adobe neglected #Flash / #Animate for way over a decade and #ToonBoomHarmony is like the "#IndustryStandard" to the point that competitiors like #Moho and #blender are only gaining market share in places where it's not feasible to charge triple digits per user and month...

I mean, Moho and Blender do nowadays integrate quite nicely as @fuchsiii found out in her tests...

But obviously

Toon Boom Harmony | 2D Animation Software

Harmony allows animators to create art in every style with one powerful end-to-end 2D animation software. Creating worlds of animation.

It's nice to see 2D isn't dying. I'll admit the animation style in the FIM movie was a bit of a shock, but when you have better tools there's no creative reason not to take those tools out for a spin and hit the accelerator so to s peak.

Adobe's recent killing-off of Adobe Animate is hilarious, but when you're a corpo, where the "line" must "go up," killing off your solid long-term products for short-term gains enabled by content theft machines must be an irresistible win.

@FuturisticRobert @fuchsiii I think that's the fundamental unfixable problem of publicly traded corporations because they are legally mandated to maximize ROI for shareholders at an exponential rate they'll inevitably hit a ceiling.

Per contrast, #Valve (which is owned predominantly by #GabeN and only has marginal amounts of (non-traded!) stocks with it's employees) is also doing great without #enshittifiying #Steam.

Which makes Gaben propably the only publicly known #billionaire that isn't hated.

  • Or maybe it's his and thus Valve's #AntiAI - Stance that #Gamers love...

I don't know how this works in the rest of the world but here in the US, "Corporate Personhood," the idea that corporations are people too, has been enshrined in case law for over a century. It allows corporations to do so much damage while the courts treat the corporation as a singular "special class citizen" with rights above everyone else.

It's the very idea of corporate personhood that shields a lot of BS that corpos do from accountability, 'cause they all hide behind this fictional person.

@FuturisticRobert Which is absurd.

By contrast, CxOs in #Germany are liable for the corporations they head whenever their gross neglect is evident and/or they can't plausibly evidence that they've been defrauded and lied to.

@kkarhan the regime here is okay with corruption. We see it in the circular lending between the tech corpos.

@FuturisticRobert I know...

Not only the entire "#AI" #FakeEconomy with #Circlejerking but the fact that one nowadays can literally buy a "#NationalSecurity #briefing" with #Trump!

#USpol #corruption #NatSec #USA #fascism #AIslop

@kkarhan that's a big "yup!"

@FuturisticRobert meanwhile #Valve *owns #PCgaming because all the competitors are either greedy and/or incompetent...
