Hey #Mastodon πŸ‘‹πŸ»

So I joined today and am looking for people to follow. My interests are:

- #nonfiction #books
- #mentalhealth #adhd
- #musicproduction
- #Composing
- #gaming ( #fallout #nms #animalcrossing #skyrim)
- #music (really into Karnivool right now)
- #dogs

I’ve probably done hashtags all wrong, but as I say, I’m new round here! #introduction

@thoughtdesk
Welcome!
Hashtags look fine to me β€” similar tags will pop up as you type β€” just use the most popular or most specific.
Hope you find your people. Follow everyone you see at first, weed them out later.

If you are inclined toward expressing gratitude, join us at #ThreeGoodThings
If you love flowers & art, try #bloomscrolling and a zillion art- & photography-related hashtags.
Enjoy the Fedi!
@cynblogger Thanks so much! Really appreciate the tips and the three good things hashtag is just lovely.

@thoughtdesk

Go to the page for each of those hashtags and subscribe to the hashtag. That will fill your home feed with all the stuff you love!

@thoughtdesk Welcome! Don't follow me, my posts are no good, but I'm sure you'll have a great time.
@thoughtdesk Hi!!πŸ‘‹. Welcome. Me thinks you will be very comfortable here. For dogs, #DogsOfMastodon will reward you and your pup if you choose to post him or her with delight.
Another great place to interrupt doom scrolling is #SilentSunday. Lots of really fine photographers hang here. Follow the above links as if they were an account.
You probably know this already, but just in case, when you post a picture, please be sure and include alt text
Looking forward to seeing you around:)
@thoughtdesk welcome !
You are already using hashtags.
You are on the right way to have great discussions here
@ptl Merci! πŸ‘‹πŸ»
@thoughtdesk welcome. And I'm sure there are plenty of people to follow here with similar interests! πŸ˜„
@thoughtdesk I'm a musician. I'd love to chat!
@thoughtdesk
Welcome, I think you'll love it here. You've been given good advice here already. I esp recommend following lots and lots of people and hashtags to start with. Find someone you are interested in and check out who they're following and also follow their followers. Prune out what doesn't excite you once your feed is well populated. And of course use #AltText to be inclusive and further your connections.
@KarenDorman Thank you! Everyone’s been so nice with just this post alone, I’m looking forward to talking to more people.

@thoughtdesk Welcome! And you did it just fine. Welcome to Fedi!

And definitely checking out a fellow Animal Crossing player!

@mdmrn

i am jealous of your animal crossing emoji! 🀩

@thoughtdesk

welcome!! fellow gamer here. (LOVE animal crossing and skyrim; want to play fallout someday; currently obsessed with dinkum)
looking forward to your posts! ^β—‘^

@cupcakefae Thanks! Always good to meet a fellow gamer! Haven’t heard of Dinkum, I’ll investigate!

@mdmrn Thank you! Followed you back!

Love the profile picture. Also, how did you get that animal crossing emoji in your reply?

@thoughtdesk Thanks! My instance is a video game themed one and has AC emojis!

@thoughtdesk

Read, comment, boost etc. That’ll give people more to look at when they look at your profile. Follow people you like & check out who they follow/are followed by. And maybe say not just what you’re interested in, but why? What makes you tick?

@thoughtdesk
Welcome! Hope you'll enjoy the FediVerse and all it has to offer.
@thoughtdesk Hello! I'm sure those hashtags will connect you with some people with the same interests. Have fun on Mastodon!
@anne_twain Thanks! It’s been fun so far!
@thoughtdesk I would put a bunch of that into your about me as well for what it's worth.
@mikebabcock Thanks for the tip! I’ll update my profile.
@thoughtdesk I wrote a longer version of the same advice here in case its helpful: https://floss.social/@mikebabcock/116197267128670936
@thoughtdesk welcome! @mosgaard posts lots of interesting #musicproduction and audio engineering stuff. Especially interesting if you're (interested in) using Linux.
@fynn1 @mosgaard Thanks so much for the tip. I’ve followed you both!

@thoughtdesk Welcome to Mastodon!

Hashtags look great to me. For tips on Mastodon and the wider Fediverse, worth giving @FediTips a follow.

Plenty of people on the gamerstavern.online instance you could follow for gaming in general. Check out @brakeoutgaming for No Man’s Sky and other games. Also @HeyItsShaney has also joined Mastodon recently and likes to play Animal Crossing.

@thoughtdesk

Welcome! πŸ‘‹

The hashtags look fine!

Please feel free to ask if you want help with using this place, and there is also lots of help for new people on the website at https://fedi.tips

@thoughtdesk I can't think of anyone good to follow that someone hasn't already suggested to you. I just wanted to say that perhaps if you enjoy No Man's Sky you may want to look at Empyrion. It didn't have their budget (ok, it didn't have a budget at all, lol) but it started at the same time, does a lot of the same stuff, and some of it IMO (especially the building) it does better. But, again, much lower budget and it shows, lol.

@thoughtdesk

Try following hashtags, not people.

@thoughtdesk as a composer and attempted producer I recommend following @etherdiver for music related stuff! I have several other musicians I follow but Ether Diver does all sorts of recommendations with #otherPeoplesMusic
@raphaelmorgan @etherdiver Thanks for the recommendation!
@raphaelmorgan @thoughtdesk thank you for the kind endorsement. I do indeed write about both other people's music, and the music making process. I stream, too, on music making/production/sound design.

@thoughtdesk Aloha and welcome. I need to listen to the new Karnivool, I heard it's good, but in general I did not get warm with their prior albums. Give "The Intersphere" a try in case you don't know them yet πŸ‘‹

@thoughtdesk @etherdiver welcome to fedi~  I do book readings from the Elder Scrolls games if that interests you at all at all

if memory serves, @thearcanecomposer does music generally if and @HaruEb does Celtic music

I used to play game soundtracks on the violin until last year but long covid has me bedridden now

@thoughtdesk no, that's all good! Welcome πŸ‘‹
@thoughtdesk Thumbs up for Karnivool!
@thoughtdesk Welcome to Mastodon!
Hope you'll like it here!
