@chad

My wife’s homemade mushroom soup

@Sanderde oh I slept on Mushroom. If I could go back, I'd replace it with Split Pea.

@chad

There’s nothing wrong with split pea. My wife’s franco- manitobaine and she makes a mean pea soup as well.

@Sanderde oh there's some days I just crave some simple Campbell's Cream of Mushroom with way too many salted crackers.

@chad

Potato leek... Especially when my partner adds zucchini to it

@RantingCanuck that sounds amazing!

@chad So many delicious soups! Soup soup soup soup!

I like a good spicy omni-vegetable soup. Also lentil soup.

@dragonfrog I love me a good spicy soup!!
@chad Of the above, Chicken Noodle, but I really love proper Japanese ramen. I've started making my own shoyu ramen and plan to branch out into other varieties this summer.
@Chigaze I really need to branch out from Sapporo Ichiban - I just really don't enjoy when they add egg!

@chad That's the fun thing about making it at home. I can mess around with ingredients. I actually like the egg although I've yet to really master it yet. I found this book last year that is fun and and great cookbook at the same time.

@chad

cullen skink. nothing more satisfying on a cold, wet day.

@paul_ipv6 I had to look up what this was. Fish chowder?

I'd say that's a hell of a lot more palatable than clam chowder! I'll have to try it.

@chad

smoked fish chowder is probably the easy description.

smoked fish (usually haddock), potatoes, cream. definitely does not have the kind of briny tasty clam chowder can.

not traditional but a bit of leek or corn doesn't do badly either.

@paul_ipv6 oh that'd slap with some corn.

I'll have to seek some out!

@chad

Minestrone

@maya_b I initially had it on my list but bumped it for Dill Pickle.
@chad Laksa 🤤
@alessandro mmm. I think a lot of the western world really sleeps on a good coconut broth.
@chad 🍜🍲pho - I think that counts as soup?

@curiousrobot I always see pho referred to as a soup.

I'm often not keen of it because they always put egg in it, and I'm not a big egg person.

@chad whoa…what. There’s no egg in pho. You can order the most basic one (steak) and it’s just broth, rice noodles, and thinly sliced meat. Everything else is optional. Oohhhh you might be thinking about ramen!

If you want to try pho - I think you’re YEG area? https://www.phohoanpasteur.ca/edmonton

@curiousrobot oh thanks for this! I was thinking of a ramen place in Brewery. Getting my noodles confused :)
@chad sopa de lima
@Bwaretheleopard looks interesting! I'll have to pass because of my citrus allergy. 😞
@chad aw man. That's a terrible thing to be allergic too (not that there's really a good allergy).
@chad Corn chowder (from the Cooking for Two, Company's Coming cookbook)
@LauraleeDukeshire nothing beats the Company's Coming cookbooks. :)

@chad Three way tie:
Lentil
Fennel and white bean
Butternut squash and parsnip

With lemony peasoup a runner up 😄

@chad Sidebar: I grew up eating "Fresh Meat soup" which was a brothy soup made with ends of fresh (not salt) meat + tomato chunks. It was called Fresh Meat because so many soups/meals in Newfoundland used Salt Meat (cured trimmed navel beef) as the protein 😄
@chad French onion!
@productionsfl my partner is a big fan of the mini french onion soups from Costco!
Beef Barley Soup

This hearty beef barley soup uses a simple blend of mirepoix, broth and steak to make a filling soup with basic ingredients.

Taste of Home
@MikeStok Oooh I am so down with beef and barley.

@chad

My wife’s chicken and corn soup

@chad Autumn Squash (Panera)
@chad @HollyGoDarkly Without a doubt, and every time, zuppa Toscana from Olive Garden!
@chad I am a big fan of clam chowder.
@chad
The one I’ve just eaten, which was chickpea, sweet potato and ginger, made by the lovely Mrs Runt. Served with lemon toast (toasted sourdough bread spread with vegan lemon butter. The best!!

Fish čorba (çorba) 🍲
@chad chicken noodle is probably my favourite of the ones listed but my dad's borscht is my true favourite.
