Rides ampersands downhill, sled-style, without the brakes. #Poet. Tech worker. Occasional #gamer. #sailor. Crafty in that #knit #crochet #tat way. I'm sometimes in Calgary; sometimes in St. John's. She/her.

My posts evaporate. C'est la vie!

I don't follow back accounts with no posts nor profile info.

I have argued this point in the past, as I'm sure many others, but it's nice to have a term for this concept: hobbyless behavior.

Let's stop naming things after heros.
Let's stop naming them after men.
Let's stop naming them after people.

Name roads after local dishes, or ideals, or movements, or a feeling the engineer got when surveying the right of way. Buildings after what a three year old says it looks like. Bridges after birds, parks after trees, fountains after kama sutra positions.

Let's put animals on our currency like a civilized nation.

Honor Huerta and the Labor movement by teaching them in school. Unionize.

Epstein was interested in collecting people who were popular, like dinosaur scientists. Women in paleontology endure spaces where abuse is rampant, funding & fame are prioritized, & institutions protect men at the top at the expense of younger women trying to build careers. https://www.cbc.ca/radio/epstein-sciences-paleontology-9.7128103
Paleontology has an Epstein problem. Women in the field say it's a symptom of a deeper misogyny | CBC Radio

The names of hundreds of scientists have appeared in the Epstein files, including prominent dinosaur researchers. As the paleontology community reckons with the fallout of these revelations, women in the field say it's bringing to the forefront what they've known for years — that paleontology is rampant with abuse and harassment, funding and fame are prioritized above all else and institutions protect established men at the top at the expense of younger women trying to build careers.

I'm old enough to remember when wikipedia was pooh-poohed as being too risky. Anyone could edit it. It wasn't a reliable source!!
And now folks are chugging the hallucination machine with glee.
Fucked doesn't cover it.

As CUSMA review talks loom, Canada should keep Canadian internet traffic in Canada – CIRA

Domestic” internet traffic can detour through the United States before returning home. That matters far more now in the current context of trade friction and geopolitical competition.

seeing another round of "don't favorite posts on fedi"

folks it is a kind and lovely thing to favorite someone's post and anyone who tells you not to be kind and lovely has told you something about themself

it's true that it doesn't particulary increase the distribution of your post but the idea that we're all here to get things distributed as far as possible is pretty weird
