Straight guy deeply in love with my sadly lesbian work colleague. In every sense of the word, have been for 5 years. I've turned down promotions and new jobs to stay working with her. There is no future. It is hopeless.
@fesshole Then she's your benchmark. Note which of her attributes you admire - wit, charm, humour, empathy - and never go below those levels in a future partner. This lass is your friend, and is also showing you what you truly seek.
@fesshole this is the material greek tragedies are made of
@fesshole Pink Triangle by Weezer is the theme tune to this fess.
@fesshole I know this exact feeling. I've been in a similar boat, as a teenager, and I was in love for a total of 5.5 years.
@fesshole Well the universe doesn't spin around you buddy. You should stop romanticizing your lack of taking a no for an answer. You should learn to process the consequences of the preferences of a person you claim to appreciate, not keep dwelling on your discomfort about it like this makes you some kind of tragic comic book character.
@fesshole there's a few red flags here buddy

@fesshole

If she is not into men and you are one of them, the faster you move on, the better for you.

@fesshole Has he tried doing an Affleck face?
@fesshole You aren't in love with her, you're fixated upon her. There's no way this ends well unless you move on.
@Rob_T_Firefly @fesshole 💯 love is only love if it comes back atcha
@fesshole At some point I found out that I often find lesbian women attractive. Not in the sense of developing a crush or leering at them, rather thinking, hey, I wouldn't say no to *her*... And I guess it is not a total coincidence that I am married to a woman whom someone once termed "killer dyke" (which she isn't, but she has a kind of butch appearance).
@fesshole i have a possible solution, but it’s a little weird

@fesshole some of the responses to this fess are well depressing. Unrequited love used to be a rich seam of dramatic material. Now it's just considered creepy?

Having said that, turning down "promotions and new jobs to stay working with her" IS pretty creepy...
