Both choices would cost, going with internal combustion would require billions for Atlantic Canada and western farms. Lowering EV costs will require job rich support to the electric auto transition in Ontario and Quebec despite Trump.

"Taking the world as it is" requires recognizing that there are those who want to do away with all rules-based order and create a world where only might makes right. But it does not require abandoning our commitment to the rules (however weak or even hypocritical it may have been) in order to forge countervailing alliances of force. Carney's technocratic solution accepts not only that might is mighty, but that we have no argument with it; is a betrayal of any humanitarian purpose.
