@jerry I'm genuinely trying to understand it. It's a combination of "our government's totally fucked, y'all", "I can't do anything", "Trump's stabbing me in the back", "the Republicans are going to lose the midterms", and "the Republicans aren't fascist enough", so she's quitting. It seems to me that she wanted to see Qanon come true, and then realized 5 years in that it was all a lie and her world is now shattered. (Or she's realizing that some of it was real, but it was the people she supported who are the sick ones)

@christopherbrown her replacement will be appointed by the republican governor here. She was up for reelection next year anyhow, so we will vote for her replacement then. The person who I expect to eventually replace her will make MTG look like a rational intellectual, sadly.

@Rajiv @jonathankoren sadly, yes. There are a few pockets of blue, but it’s been gerrymandered to hell and back to ensure the blue parts are inconsequential. That said, we’ll see what happens. I think there’s a lot of really disenfranchised people, and likely many more after some changes to laws taken effect next year

@jerry @Rajiv it’s an R+19 district where the Democrat hasn’t gotten more than 35% since the district was created. It is literally the most Republican district in Georgia.

Those people haven’t voted for a Democrat since desegregation.

People really need to stop deluding themselves by thinking there’s some mass of oppressed liberals out there. She is exactly what the people of northwest Georgia want.
