@nixCraft If Microsoft really believed in this stuff they could leave Windows alone and launch a new software platform called Agents and everybody would migrate to that because they want a platform for agentic stuff and not a platform for windowed GUI computer programs.
Obviously, nobody expects MS to do that. Nobody has suggested it seriously. Everybody would be shocked if they did it. So nobody actually believes this, no matter what they say and no matter what they tell themselves.
@nixCraft
what are they smoking?
I guess 1993 - 2003 was the MS Golden age and now they don't even know English, never mind what people need or expect from an OS.
Jumped ship in 2016 - 2017.
What's a "frontier firm".
Windows nor any other SW is only developed. Never evolves and even if an "agentic OS" was possible it would be useless for doing accounts, writing books, editing video, doing email, library management or whatever.
@nixCraft I don't think y'all understand the kind of things that these companies are funding for young people.
I shit you not, I read someone post something like:
"our team of 4 college students developed in 36 hours a brain surgery simulators that is 99% accurate that predicts how surgery will affect your brainโ.
I screamed at my screen and wanted to ask if they had a panel of expert neuro-surgeons and data models that were validated and tested against all surgery types, and peer reviewed the results in those 36 hours, with mathematical proofs.
*screams at the screen again*
@nixCraft Worth reading the replies to that tweet :-D

@nixCraft ...just yesterday, at a meeting there was a 30min rant from most of the staff regarding "the disrupting, unnecessary, undesired - yet forced-again changes" by updates of their previously "favorite mainstream OS":
Now they're asking for help replacing more and more IT parts with "stable, less-changing" #FOSS ๐ and #Linux. ๐ง
@nixCraft many of the responses to this are funny. MS only cares about corporate accounts and cloud. My client (I do not work in IT) cares about security, privacy, sovreign data etc., but employes only MS solutions and oddles of licenses to the point where now, I doubt they can escape even if there was the will.
Normal end users, many do not care and will freely upgrade and pay (cash and freedom) for doing so but MS care little about them.
@nixCraft you know, I can deal with not playing the games I've bought, if I don't have to deal with this shit.
My kids are going to hate not being able to play Fortnite
He was getting so much hostile, negative feedback he had to turn off comments.
We can turn your home computer into a police station, please sit up.
Straighter.
They think this will sell?
