SCOOP: Apple Quietly Made ICE Agents a Protected Class

@Privacymatters They also banned Eye’s Up, an app and repository for capturing ICE activities on video. I guess there’s too much damning evidence.
@zenmorph @Privacymatters Wait, so you're saying we need to have a hosting service for this? What about #Loops?
@Privacymatters Information about the location of the nearest police station can also " provide location information about law enforcement officers that can be used to harm such officers individually or as a group". But Apple Maps provides it. Odd.

@Privacymatters Good news! Apple just discovered a new renewable* energy source!

*It's just Steve Jobs spinning in his grave.

At least now they can finally say some of their products are carbon neutral, for realz? 😂

@Privacymatters There comes a point where a company is so large, so powerful that it should be disbanded entirely. The state (wherever you are) might not want that but it should happen anyway.
@Privacymatters Like seriously this is an insanely large and powerful company. No group of people should have that level of global power and influence. It's madness.
@Privacymatters excellent, add Tim to the list of coconspirators who can rot in The Hague.
@Privacymatters
Tim Apple should be ashamed of himself.

Omar el Akkad writes, "Rules, conventions, morals, reality itself: all exist so long as their existence is convenient to the preservation of power. Otherwise, they, like all else, are expendable."

@Privacymatters I keep saying, they are ALL fascist appeasers

they are all part of the #ACO (pinned post w/ definitions)

They will always put💲ahead of people. Always. You think Apple cared about child & slave labor in China?

#BreakTheOligarchy

We need to find ways to ween ourselves off of their tech & stop giving them our💲

& shame on everyone who just bought the new thin apple phone even though they didn't need a new one. they are just a slave to consumerism. fuck the planet. & fuck them

@Privacymatters we’re all gonna have to reconcile the fact that all the top companies are full fledged nazi strongholds. (People like tim cook dont become ceo without becoming fascist. Its not possible.) and thus they must be eradicated.

@Privacymatters

FUUUUUUUCK Apple with a red-hot poker in the darkest hole without lube!

@Privacymatters Fools. What kind of person would do that? Damnit, my country is full of hooligans and nonsense...

@Privacymatters

"Tim Apple" is kissing more than the ring. Shameful. I've been an #Apple/#Mac user since 1988, but my current 8yo PowerBook will be my last. Moving to #Linux as fast as I can! Don't buy Apple products if you can help it!

@nickrauchen @Privacymatters Did you really, before this, expect a #BigCorp to be a good entity?
@nickrauchen I feel the same. A key consideration being that our family all use Apple products - laptops/phones/iPads so it’s not easy to just ditch Apple … sadly

@Privacymatters

I totally agree and empathize. My advice: pick one device/service that everyone agrees can go, and make that switch. Small steps in the right direction. 🙂

My immediate desire was to NOT replace my old #Apple laptop with a new Apple laptop. I have a friend who helped me select and tweak a new #Linux-only laptop. (From #System76 for anyone interested. Seems to hit several "not evil" high notes: no #Windows or #Mac "tax" (license) since it was "built for #Linux" in the first place, seems to be friendly to easy self-upgrade and repair, etc. https://system76.com/laptops/lemp13/configure)

My first goal was to move my open-source publishing system to a better environment. This has been a big win already! My second goal is to move about 20 years of photography curated with #Adobe #Lightroom. Good news is there are several promising Linux options. I have not had time yet to explore them.

(BTW: I was screwed twice and backed into a corner by Adobe and Apple. I have a fully paid for legal copy of LR "Classic" that I have been using for about ten years. Adobe killed off the upgrade path and Apple made their new hardware/OS (number of bits) incompatible with what I already own. 🙁 Disrespect your customers and your customers will leave. My train is leaving the station!) 👍

Third goal is to get Apple out of my life entirely. So maybe in a year I will start looking for an iPhone replacement. My main criteria is that the camera(s) and photo software are as good as the iPhone 16. It is amazing and is now the best camera I own. Apple hardware is great, but Apple corp sucks!

@nickrauchen @Privacymatters

I made the complete jump almost two year's ago.

Had all the latest gadgets, iPhone 15 Pro Max, Airpods Pro 2.0, Apple Ultra 2 Watch and M2 MacBook Pro.

Just got totally sick of Apple's level of control over daily my life, it wasn't like that at the outset.

So, I sold the lot and bought;

A secondhand 2015 15" i7 MacBook Pro for A$250.00 and installed Linux Mint on it.

Also bought an analogue Citizen watch and dumped the headphones.

Finally, I bought a Google Pixel 8a and installed GrapheneOS.

In two year's I haven't signed into Google or Apple(never used Meta crap anyway) and I haven't looked back.

Admittedly the learning curve, across the board, was steep, but my needs are basic and I only had to do it for me, not a family.

Having said that though, there wasn't the level of urgency then that there is now either.

My conclusion is, I have no doubt it is a viable option to move from 'big tech' dependence to FOSS products.

You just have to stick with it.

@avoca @Privacymatters

Helpful! Storing info away for when I get to phone replacement.

Linux laptop is clunkier that MacBook... but well worth dealing with those idiosyncrasies IMO.

@nickrauchen @Privacymatters

A small sacrifice for relative 'freedom' though...

...and, for me, its a bit of fun in my old age.

@avoca @Privacymatters

I alternate between "a bit of fun" and "I'm too old for this!" 😉

Tim Apple throws out his mayonnaise
@Privacymatters Another reason not to buy #Apple products.
@Privacymatters HOW ABOUT RELEASING THE EPSTEIN FILES AND EMAILS?

@Privacymatters

Protecting Trumps fascist private army…

@Privacymatters So, simple question for all the tech people: Why the hell are people still working for the new techno-fascist order (Apple, META, Google, and many leaser entities)? And don't tell me it's the $. Walk away...unless they are ideologically aligned with fascism.

@Privacymatters

Is this surprising? These tech companies already showed their colors decades ago while cooperating with the regime in China.
