Apple in the USA: „We only follow the laws and orders of our authoritarian government, there is nothing we can do against it.“
@_holger One of these is an authoritarian government that acts completely irresponsibly, the other a democratic one that is bound by laws.
Sad but true: it is clear that Europe will cave in, while in the US the company is facing the threat of being broken up.

If Apple decide not to comply with the "Chat Control" law (if it comes into effect) then we should take that as some sort of win against that draconian proposal.

I dumped microsoft many years ago, never used facebook, have a non google phone use alternative search engines and browsers. Sideload applications, mostly from FDroid.
I am not fully out of amazon because I still have a couple of articles in warranty, without an account they make claims impossible.
I can close the account next springtime.

Here in Sweden, you are basically locked out of many government and private services if you don’t use either the Apple or Google app stores. BankID, the banks’ common authentication system, only works through those.
Sucks up to #queerphobic #MAGATrump, gives this bastard money and gifts (wtf?) , bans an anti-ICE app... Yeah overgrown Timmy and his lot can FUCK OFF !!

Europe to Apple: Go f*ck yourself. You need us, we don't need you. We make the rules here, not you. If you want to do business here, accept the rules like every other company. You're not special. And we're certainly not going to change the law just for you. You don't even pay taxes in most European countries.
