Is this the Geomagnetic storm Aurora?
Apparently there was a mystery Level 7/Geomagnetic one in the last couple of days.
Southern New Mexico has entered the chat.
Red auroral glow was barely visible just above the horizon around 10PM local time...needed 30-second exposures, f/1.4, ISO 400.
But what surprised me more was the green airglow. It was bright and had texture/detail. These two images (processed to better show the lumpiness of the sky background) show the green airglow 'clouds' drifting north over time.
Is that what's left of your goats? Tragic but pretty.
@sundogplanets
Aurorasaurus says someone in my area reported seeing aurora, I rushed out but I did not see. Perhaps there is too much light in my neighbourhood.
I did see a lot more stars than usual so that was nice. I recognized the W constellation (as I call it).
Wow! That different to us! At -33 we're getting close to 2 minutes extra daylight a day (a minute each end). It makes sense when you think about it, but I didn't until just now. ๐ค There's always something new (to me) to discover in the fedi. ๐ Thanks!

"If you're hungry, go to the fence and yell until the human comes."
good life tip, right there.
How did you make out? Several of my club members were able to see it in darker spots. I re-examined the pic I took at 9:08 EDT and there is some redness near the horizon. Seems a bit later on was better too.
