Reviews came down today at work. I learned I need to have my head on a swivel.

I feel like dogshit today. Nose running, back aching, leg aching, stomach ache.

I've officially gotten pissed off at these patches. I have an appointment in the morning to try to get them to switch me to pills.

I don't know if it's placebo or just life's shitting bricks or if it is an actual effect from the patches, but I have noticed myself more emotional lately.

Yep. And GovCIO (contractor for VA) fired 30% 2 days ago. And somehow, I kept my job through this round.

I'm still looking though. I need out of the federal ecosystem.

By the time they're done with all the cuts, there won't be a department to work in left. And we'll be destroyed anyways since 'we cant do our jobs'.

@rallias taking today off (mostly, no meetings but a little email catch-up) after exhausting my social and mental capacity last week (RSAC) and this week (all the follow-up work I generated for myself at RSAC). Google Photos decided to remind me of a phtoograph I took of myself 7 years ago yesterday. It was some headshot, probably for finding a job or sommat. But, like, I saw that, and it's soured my mood, because if I hadn't had my head so far up my own fucking ass back then, I could have started this journey then, not now.

@crankylinuxuser on the other hand: my absolute favorite phone widget is the thing that shows me photos from my album like 10-15 years ago, when my kids were all cute and small. 🥰 Remembering those good times from the past is a good mental health practice for today.

I finally created an avatar for my alt, and Dynadot is giving me reminders I need to renew my offensive "you insisted on a valid email address" domain.

In some sort of cruel joke, I've been handed the task of getting the iOS build of my employers app going. I am legit tempted to reverse-engineer all this bullshit to make the pipeline work on Linux, it's pissed me off this bad.

I’ll be spending all spare time I can muster over the weekend wrenching on my mom’s car.

• Pull the full interior
• Clean interior components outside the car
• Scrub the inside of the tub.
• Drain and flush the radiator
• Install new water pump and thermostat (opposite sides of the engine)
• Replace all 4 motor mounts (top left, top right, bottom 2-part mount)
• Near future all 4 brakes
• Near future all 4 tires
• Near future fixing rock chips before they rust in my much more humid environment

Trying not to give in to the siren song of fiscally irresponsible tool and part shopping for the ADHDopamine.

I've been in a long term relationship with unnecessary jeep modifications for decades. Send help.

It is an absolute life skill to be able to safely work on your own vehicles though. A lot of folks i think believe they cannot work on a car because they can't possibly be trusted to make their vehicle safe to drive. This is generally a lie. General maintenance is actually not all that hard and can be done safely with just a little diligence.

And yes, at some point I plan to unnecessarily mount a trailer hitch, and while I had the carpet out I considered unnecessarily installing sound-deadening. Still on the fence about a dashcam, I think I might drive better if I was always performing for a recording.

It’s amazing what becomes feasible when you aren’t made of mechanic money.

Grandad had an old Sahara, dad had a Scrambler. Don’t remember the years or specific models, just the branding, but probably 80s or earlier on both. My first car was a Liberty that I totaled about a decade in. Brother had a Cherokee, and dad bought a Comanche that never ran in our time owning it.

I'm the first in my family to be the jeep guy. but my dad, my grandfather, and probably further back, were all diy guys and at some point car guys. so i guess the spirit is there ;). Maybe my daughters will pick it up from me.

I've probably owned a dozen jeeps since i got my license.

I'm not a jeep person for the simple fact that I'm not a car person. My Honda is nearly 14 years old, just rolled 93,000 miles, and is only the forth car I have ever owned in the 30 years I have been driving.

I woke up with Dax puppies' chin resting on my left shoulder. She has decided she likes to be under the blankets with us, but she doesn't really understand how to get under them herself. What she has discovered is that if she digs around at them long enough, I'll wake up and throw a blanket over her. She settles right down once I do that. But then she starts pressing into me. King sized bed, and I have woken up on the very edge of the mattress for the last five days straight.
