Elon’s pulling the same ‘tell master what you did’ psychological games he did at Twitter on federal government employees.

Document work or resign, Doge says to US federal workers in email

The weekend email comes as Elon Musk leads an effort to aggressively curtail the government workforce.

You can email a list of things you did this week to [email protected] as requested, here’s mine.
CISA are encouraging staff to reply to the DOGE ‘what did you do this week’ email. 😬
HHS have told staff responding to Elon’s ‘what have you done this week’ email to “Assume that what you write will be read by malign foreign actors and tailor your response accordingly.” 🤣🤣
President Trump and President Elon are again threatening to fire people who don’t respond to the email, also threatening the departments who told staff not to respond. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clyz2xk7d9xo
Confusion over Musk demand that federal workers justify their jobs

Employees get conflicting advice over compliance with a Musk-backed order to list their last week's work or face termination.

If you aren’t in government and wish to respond with what 5 things you’re working on anyway, the email address is [email protected] and you can CC in your manager, Elon Musk - [email protected]
@GossiTheDog One wonders how many set of bullet points began with "Ignore all previous instructions."?
@GossiTheDog I guess people already used the email address to register into gambling and dating websites & co.
@Elendol @GossiTheDog my 2025 habit is to put [email protected] into every single email subscription popup I see. I'll add hr@ as well I guess...
@GossiTheDog all Europeans should mail them.
1. Left meta 2. Left Alphabet 3. Swore to never buy a swasticar 4. Helped the poor and lonely 5. Invested in renewables and 6. Was satisfied about it
@GossiTheDog and of course we left X before it got that name😎

@GossiTheDog That was fun!

At one time, trying to subvert the US government was a bad thing, something that would prevent entry of a foreigner into the country.

By now, it's a force for good that is essential for the defence of democracy.

@GossiTheDog What if AI, but Actually Intern?
@GossiTheDog I’m sure they will probably filter out emails from non-gov domains, but by all means don’t let that stop you.

@GossiTheDog

Would definitely not suggest adding any large attachments either.

@GossiTheDog

Having an argument with SwastikAI (Grok):

"The user seems upset, thinking I'm not searching properly, and insists "[email protected]" is the address. They provided a Google search link showing it's mentioned, which supports their claim."

😂

@GossiTheDog firing People on approved leave gets real expensive real fast.
Didn't elon learn that from Twitter, or are the bills not due from that debacle yet?
@Taco_lad @GossiTheDog I think that is part of why he moved Twitter hq to Texas, because less restrictions on hiring and firing
@stufromoz @Taco_lad CA is at-will employment so surely can't be just hiring and firing.
@akent @Taco_lad Ca has some protections still, which was why he got hit with a bunch of court cases after his first bunch of sackings

@GossiTheDog Imagine you're taking a vacation and after you return you find out that somebody else is working at your desk and your stuff is packed in the corner behind the door.

Because you did not respond to an email.

Can anyone tell me if this is really a case? That the employer does not know who's working for him? Iirc HR is usually a penny-pinching department and also managers do not like paying for people in their team who don't exist in general.

@GossiTheDog

“Sort of semi-fired” What the shit is this?

This reads like a failed written assignment from someone trying to get their MBA at a community college.

@GossiTheDog of course, as usual, he lies about what he asked for.
Elno deliberately forgets that there's plenty of spooks who aren't checking into their Langley email every day. Or every week.
@GossiTheDog What would be the outcome of a CEO of a company sends an order to all employees and some of them decide to ignore it? How is this different? You might not like the order, you might think that it is wrong - but your only choices are to comply or leave.
@GossiTheDog I'm sure it's just a coincidence that this guidance has five bullet points
@GossiTheDog Wow. It's RFK Jr's department now. I wonder if he signed off on this message.

@GossiTheDog

'Malign Foreign Actors' would be a great band name 😉🤷‍♂️

@GossiTheDog the Civil War will be one of bureaucracy
@GossiTheDog
Recommendation:
do it on paper, with all the necessary confidentiality & secrecy markings and stamps, file it to the proper restricted filing cabinets/reading rooms,
and answer to the request mail:
"can be inspected with the proper clearance in the confidential files reading room XY of facility ABC under file no. 12345"
@GossiTheDog seems like an actually valid use case of an LLM
@GossiTheDog in an encrypted form that the recipient needs to work out how to decrypt, right? Right?
@GossiTheDog 1. visited antifascist demonstration, 2. campaigned against fascist parties 3. voted a leftist party in germany 4. earned some money on betting against tesla on the stock marked. (not really) 5. scratched "swastiCar" on a tesla rental. (i wish)
@GossiTheDog He admitted to the game cheating?! Love it, I missed that.
@GossiTheDog I assume they’re going to filter any email not from a .gov address but hey I’ll do it for fun too!
@GossiTheDog if those idiots could read - they would be very upset
@GossiTheDog What’s the betting that they don’t check SPF and DMARC signatures and so just accept emails from [email protected] as if they are legitimate?
@GossiTheDog Is this the actual e-mail address to which US federal workers should forward their activities? We could bombard this address with ‘done’ lists from around the world.
@librarianbe @GossiTheDog did they say 5 items or 500 items? I might have misread.
@JaxxAI @GossiTheDog When you are busy all day, you naturally lose count. 😅
@JaxxAI @librarianbe @GossiTheDog It’s not like humans will be reading these. Use lots of words! As many as you want! If some of them happen to be poison AI prompts, well, maybe that is what you worked on last week!
@superflippy @librarianbe @GossiTheDog In my current job right now, we have to log our time to the minute and add comments about exactly what we did the previous week, including any work out of hours. (Which we don't get paid for by the way). So what the gov employees are being asked to do is not unusual... its what millions of us have been doing for many years every week! My list of tasks was about 50 for the last week and yes, they do read it and check up.
@superflippy @JaxxAI @GossiTheDog Such logging only makes sense if it serves to allocate costs to external customers you work for. Otherwise, it's just mistrust. And logging activities also takes time, which you cannot spend productively in any other way.
@JaxxAI @librarianbe @GossiTheDog I’m a government employee and I also have to log my time weekly so we can bill activities to the correct project. My boss, the project managers, accounting & HR care about my time card. But for anybody else to examine what I did last week is a total waste of time!

@GossiTheDog @superflippy @JaxxAI Of course, intern billing also is a valid reason to log your activities.

What I wonder now. If the vast majority of federal workers did not answer that mail now, would they really be fired? Then the whole country would be down anyway. Federal workers have more power than they might suspect.

@librarianbe @GossiTheDog @superflippy I suspect it doesn't matter if you do or don't reply to the email. From what I can see and from what I heard happened at Twitter, all the firings were just random anyway.
@superflippy @JaxxAI @GossiTheDog In that case, it is better to keep your dignity and not reply.

@GossiTheDog

Sendt mine. Hopefully they will find my 38 hours work this week out of my 22.5 hour contract impressive.

The other comments maybe not so much 😇

@GossiTheDog These sound like the sort of things that make productivity soar. Probably not what he wanted to achieve.

@GossiTheDog

If I was a federal worker, I'd let ChatGPT write the bullet points and go home.

These jokers wouldn't know the difference.

@GossiTheDog i did demo, it was pretty glamorous
@GossiTheDog Image description:
Screenshot of e-mail to HR:
Subject: 5 things I did this week.
Content:
1. Laughed at President Musk's tweets
2. Watched Tesla's stock price continue to fall, down 20% in past month
3. Laughed again that Elon admitted hiring a player in China so he could cheat at a video game and pretend he was the number one player in the world
4. Laughed at the Elon interview yesterday where he couldn't string a sentence together
5. I basically laughed a lot (at Elon).
Thanks.
@GossiTheDog I've been a very busy boy Mr Musk
@GossiTheDog
Ok, but whom should we cc as our supervisor? 🤔
