@stavvers I worked with a Kevin Gee, who was stuck with “geek@bigbank.com”.

@stavvers the uni went to as a student used 2 initials and then surname. I was drmoo , which led to some confused emails.
But it was better than pasta or ashol

And we all preferred it over another uni that had first initial and then up to 6 letters of your surname. Mr 'jchrist' complained until they changed his.

@aeduna @stavvers

lastnamefirstinitial seems like a perfectly reasonable login/email system for an academic institution until you spend your weekend partying instead of studying and now have to email your bullshit excuse and plea for an extension to your physics professor… Debbie Go.

@stavvers hey I know I am quite annoying with this one, but I feel like your thread only gets better every time I see it in here

@stavvers Used to work with a Theresa Green. That’s a fun name.
@stavvers isekai where the protag guy gets hit and becomes a woman in the harem of some toxic asshole who acts just like the protag did in their previous life and has to learn to not be a dick while questing to turn back into a guy
@stavvers Unfortunately, not suitable for living creatures. Similar range of temperatures like shrink wrap foil. Over 100°C/250°F.
@stavvers I've heard Animate by Rush enough times to FULLY hear "Laminate me" in Geddy Lee's voice, and I'm not sure how i feel about that.
@stavvers regular websites today really aren't distinguishable from the "shady" websites of back then, aren't they?
Maybe less boobs.

@stavvers I think this is the most insane thread I've ever seen, thank you so much for sharing this.
@stavvers Also, it's called linguine. Carry on.
@stavvers Small correction in the first alt-text: The Scottish guys are from How to train your dragon and not Brave…
@stavvers This is the quality content I that keeps me on here.
@stavvers
Wow, this one is tumblr all the way down.
@stavvers
this is like the wheel that makes you old in conan the barbarian

@stavvers This is AI fake, please don't let our free spaces turn into the same pit full of lies as the other networks.

I wonder whoever thinks photographs in 1980 were black and white.
Also the two young ones definitely look like people from today. There is a lot of these fake pictures where it's even more blatant.

@detours_anachroniques buddy, this is quite clearly NOT AI on account of the fact they all have the normal amount of fingers. The clue is it's the exact same cauliflower. Imagine a world wherein two different groups of people could stand in the same field, pose with the same cauliflower and take a funny picture with it!

@stavvers If you're trolling it's very funny indeed to imagine a life-draining cauliflower.

Check out this one : https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/v2/D4D22AQEzZ6CO3VDEmQ/feedshare-shrink_1280/B4DZSAGEZkHYAk-/0/1737315865421?e=2147483647&v=beta&t=aNvQKNju-el86wNKB6IG4QBZHKZX1Vno4tRhtrMZCbk the AI is way past the problem of fingers nowadays.

@stavvers I mean, none of it matches. The people are different heights, the fields are different sizes, and the cauliflowers are not identical. The tree lines are also different, and the depth of field on both looks weird. Plus, it has a bit of that odd otherworldliness that often twigs people to AI. It would be infinitely easier to slap together two AI gens of the same pose than find two nearly identical photos like this. I can see why folk would assume the former.
@stavvers my beloved mythological creatures reference book has angels and jesus
@stavvers That took a sudden turn.
@foolishowl @stavvers Judas is definitely the top in that relationship
@stavvers This absolutely made my day. Thank you so much for sharing it. 🙂
@stavvers lol, if gods like Zeus etc aren't mythology I really don't know what mythology would be, at that point you took away the main thing that mythology defines and it becomes a hollow word
@stavvers @GreenSkyOverMe as I recall he was quite serious about the fireworks, so I don't see a problem in that statement.
@stavvers As immortalized in the work of the Bard Johnny Cash.
@stavvers it took half a century for that eyebrow to grow back, he'll have you know

@stavvers I need to hear Feliz Navidad, I can’t place it right now https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feliz_Navidad_(song) - bit the young Scot’s full re-interpreted lyrics could be entertaining
Feliz Navidad (song) - Wikipedia

@stavvers oh that made me laugh! Thank you.
@stavvers I'd be carefull. What people do while having a mental breakdown might not be completely valid, and those taking advantage could face consequences.
The guy did the right thing and I hope he get to live the best of lives.
@katow @stavvers this is the plot of A Christmas Carol

@stavvers

@stavvers well played. definitely more interesting than the versions we've seen written from the other side.
@stavvers
Lol it took me until the last sentence until I got it. Brilliant.
WORDS BEAT DATA - Dave Trott's Blog

In 1842, the Second Report of the Children’s Employment Commission was released. Young girls were spending 16 hours a day, six days a week, sewing garments. Boys as young as eight were pulling coal carts in the mines, 11 hours a day. Children were losing their limbs, often their lives, cleaning huge machinery

@stavvers

not gonna lie, they had us in the first half 😆

@stavvers I am absolutely convinced USAmericans without the Dickensian context would consider him the arsehole.
@stavvers you've got the alt text set to the second half of the previous post, which was really confusing but also quite funny without context because it sounded like you were rambling on about something
@stavvers When I say I like following people, not content: this. This is what I mean. Give me lots of this.
@stavvers That’s funny! I like to ask the vampires “Did you leave any for me?” :)
@stavvers I get occasional dizzy spells, and the closest anyone ever got to figuring out why was when they discovered that pulling 4-8 vials of my blood was a good way to trigger them

@stavvers

I'd really like one of those people who make the little model kits to build this plane then paint it white and add the red dots. They would win the internet for at least an hour.

@stavvers I am offended at the shocking lack of exchange rate understanding.
@SheriffLonestar @stavvers I think it's worse than that. I'm thinking they mistook € for ¢ or c, as in ¢87 or $0.87

Because god forbid other currencies exist :)
@stavvers Some seeing the € mark and just assuming it's means ¢
@stavvers
sticker idea:
sticker for your wand reading my other ride is a Hitatchi and a picture of an Ingram Unit 1 from Patlabor
@stavvers I love @foone so much for stuff like this, I still quote the forklift certified line randomly at inappropriate times
@stavvers much of the UK's recent express trains are also made by Hitachi
@jackeric @stavvers something something rail replacement service

@stavvers

@foone you matter of factly gremlin, how is it that you can say simple truths and they still come out incredibly witty?

@Archivist @stavvers I have a lot of practice as being amusing on the internet

@foone I know, yet I remain impressed nonetheless

@stavvers

@stavvers Nissan are alive and well in the Battletech universe (and GE, Mitsubishi) so Hitatchi being around isn't that much of a stretch and yeah I kinda want that as a decal in my battletech game.
@stavvers alas that Hitachi no longer makes the Hitachi (sold it off to someone else quite a while back).

@stavvers
@leyrer

I feel like I need to have a kid and call them Tachi, so everyone can say Hi, Tachi!

@stavvers For some reason, Hitachi divested themselves of their most beloved product.
@stavvers It's our hero, VLC-Man/Woman
@stavvers thanks for sharing. Where is raptorific to be found? I’d love to follow anyone who calls the show runner “president”!
@stavvers I feel like this would be a great allegory for certain aspects of our general cultural crisis.
@stavvers
i absolutely can imagine

@stavvers
totally ignorant though. while i'm interested in how most businesses operate, info on sex work is pretty thin.

anyway, i hope sadclowncentral's new career change takes off

@stavvers I had to look it up, and it does seem Major Stephen Harriman Long was real.
