And now this. My father had polio when he was a child in the 1930s. He thankfully survived. Many did not. This is, well, evil. Let's not mince words. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/13/health/aaron-siri-rfk-jr-vaccines.html
RFK Jr.’s Lawyer Has Asked the FDA to Revoke Polio Vaccine Approval

Aaron Siri, who specializes in vaccine lawsuits, has been at Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s side reviewing candidates for top jobs at the Department of Health and Human Services.

@gregggonsalves Seriously? Back to sister Kenny? What part of the world we are speaking of?
@gregggonsalves I recall a storyline on ER, where one of the docs had gone to do some work with a charity in the developing world. He was having trouble diagnosing a boy brought to the hospital, until one of the local doctors told him the boy had polio, which of course he had never seen an active case of in America. Guess American doctors will need to start brushing up on the symptoms in a few years.
@beecycling @gregggonsalves This was also in an episode of Emergency! back in the 1970s.

@gregggonsalves

my mother had it too and survived

insanity

@samiamsam @gregggonsalves Thanks to the polio vaccine I never got ill with polio.
Keeping it away from people having their physical health protected is potentially negligent bodily injury, which should lead to victims of that official (insane) negligence joining & take to class action in courts.

@gregggonsalves was it a year ago when there was the announcement of the Death of the last Person in an Iron lung in the USA?

@GroberUnfug2 @gregggonsalves

Good thinks will come back !!!

Iron lung everybody should have one !!!!

@moppi @gregggonsalves some old stuff should be left in Museums.
@moppi @GroberUnfug2 @gregggonsalves well, there will probably be smart iron lungs, and you will have to oay a subscription for it. United Healthcare CEO approves!
@Pterry @GroberUnfug2 @moppi @gregggonsalves
@ImaniBarbarin talks a lot about the buying spree venture capital has been on in the US healthcare sector — especially the disability sector — since COVID kicked off.
Another unchecked disabling virus would be big business.

I heard an interview with him, such a beautiful human being. He would be deeply disturbed to hear this.

@gregggonsalves

Evil indeed… needs prosecution.

@gregggonsalves how long until the rest of the world starts checking the vaccination status of American travelers on their tourist visa?
@xenophile @gregggonsalves i was thinking more of a 3 month quarantine

@gregggonsalves

On the possible revocation of the polio vaccine, let’s not mince words:

Moves like this, if they come to pass, will quickly void the social contract. I do not say it lightly. Ineptitude is one thing, but when a government actively endeavors to make the people unsafe, then sovereignty no longer belongs to the state.

@gregggonsalves which is great news if you hate America and its citizens. Not so great news for the americans though.
@gregggonsalves Unbelievable and horrifying. My late father who died earlier this year in his nineties was so horrified by the anti-vax movement since he also grew up in a time where families lived in fear of their children getting polio. He always maintained that those memories slipping from society explained why people were so cavalier about vaccines today.
@TeamMidwest @gregggonsalves my mom was 7 in 1952 and had several waves of polio go through her school before the vaccine. Even when we were little, she told us not to forget this was pretty new and worldchanging.
@gregggonsalves A (shocking) reminder for people who do not know what polio does to you 👇🏼
@ericschutte @gregggonsalves
Someone should ask Mitch McConnell what he thinks of disapproving the polio vaccine.
@gregggonsalves You are right, totally evil. Polio is a horrible disease. He should be asked to experience it.
@gregggonsalves My dad’s oldest sister died of polio before he was born, and my mom’s older sister was disabled from the disease and spent most of her childhood in an iron lung. These idiots want to bring this back. It’s insane. Abhorrent.

@gregggonsalves

My father contracted #polio at twenty. He was triaged expectant. A year in the iron lung. He lived fifty more years without the use of his legs. Post-polio syndrome in later years.

What will Offit say?

@gregggonsalves welcome to the "third world" club USA. Worse, because they have polio vaccines
@gregggonsalves I have been saying for a while that this is obviously intentional. Our adversaries don't need to shoot ICBMs at us if they can get us to stop vaccinating children. Polio, mumps, measles, and rubella will do all the intended destruction instead.

@gregggonsalves Takke kankerlijer. Krijg de pokke.

My apologies for not having the Dutch grammar right- I believe this is second person, not third- but by God I mean every word of the vocabulary.

@gregggonsalves well the last guy that was living in an iron lung passed away so I’m sure Trump and RFKjr are doing this to boost the iron lung industry. You know all those iron lung jobs.
@gregggonsalves Agreed, this is absolutely evil. A late relative of mine was struck with polio in high school. A star athlete became a man with an unusable arm and a pronounced limp. Trying to prevent the use of the polio vaccine is unconscionable.
@gregggonsalves Can we give him polio so he can live out his decisions?
@gregggonsalves A friends dad died in his 50’s from post polio syndrome. This is such scary garbage science they want to push.
@gregggonsalves with polio coming back into fashion, I vote we also bring back the black plague!

@gregggonsalves

Antivaxxer ideology is the kind of evil that kills children in droves & disables millions.

So much for the fake "pro-life" policy positions of Republicans.

@Npars01 @gregggonsalves My uncle was in an iron lung for 9 years or so bc of polio.
Then he was on a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
All his & my Aunts plans & goals for their marriage faded.
They were awesome ppl. They made adjustments. My aunt spent her life caring for him. When he died she went to Europe & stayed in hostels.
Same side of the family who were able to help my brother w cerebral palsy.

We need to #RiseUp in mass numbers.
RepubliKKKans waged war on average Americans w Reagan, or at least it’s been the steady drumbeat- march against anything good for #WTP
It wasn’t that long before my brother was born that he could’ve been locked up in a cellar or allowed to die bc of his condition & it would’ve been acceptable.
That’s MAGA. That’s their vision.
@Npars01 pro fetus is not the same as pro life.

@gregggonsalves The older brother I never met died from polio a year before the vaccine was developed.

He didn't live beyond his fourth year of life.

Here's to the new government program to save children from being shot; let them die from polio then they won't get shot. Unless, they don't die and are then stuck with impossibly large medical bills that won't be paid by insurance.

Great job to the Trump campaign.

@gregggonsalves 😧🙄😡 And again happy not to live there. (....and again and again and again....)

@gregggonsalves
I wrote both my Senators:

The NYT reports that RFK Jr's lawyer has asked the FDA to revoke approval of the polio vaccine.
What an incredibly damaging proposal, should that actually occur.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. must not be approved for any position within the Federal government,
especially the FDA.

Also, the national conversation about health insurance appears to have shifted recently.
Continuation of the campaign to bring about a single-payer solution for healthcare would
likely meet with approval from more of the populace than previously.

With best wishes for success in these challenging times,

@knowattitude @gregggonsalves I don't think I could manage to be so polite
@gregggonsalves He should have his lawyer license revoked just for making that dumb request.
@gregggonsalves
Population reduction tactic.

@gregggonsalves My dad's father was the youngest of 14. Only 4 of them made it to adulthood because of polio. His case was mild but he developed Parkinson's disease which has a correlation with surviving polio. His sister survived with multiple health problems and spent most of her life getting fluids suctioned out of her lungs.

I don't want to go back.

@gregggonsalves A childhood friend of mine, just a few years older than I, had contracted polio just before the vaccine came out. Her legs were paralyzed and she walked with braces and crutches. We do not want this back!
@gregggonsalves perhaps it's time to start to believe that the ultra rich have entered into a phase where they want the planet depopulated so they can have it for themselves. Climate change, genocides, pandemics, economic collapse. Do they believe their wealth protects them from the chaos they will unleash?
@azphilosopher @gregggonsalves Yes. Because for them, it has always worked that way.
@gregggonsalves Finally, it is revealed when America was "Great": When polio ravaged the land! This is clearly part of the plan to make it "Great Again" by returning to that paradise.
@gregggonsalves What next Small Pox? Bring it out of vaults so we can all get natural immunity? We are going to all die.
@gregggonsalves
Many of we boomers had kids with braces in our schools. No one thought of refusing a vaccine then. It saved millions of lives.
@gregggonsalves and to think… these clowns have barely arrived yet… 🤡🤡..but full steam ahead they go.. yikes…

@gregggonsalves
I grew up with the specter of an uncle who died of polio in 1947 at 5 years old.

There is no level of hell deep enough for these rat-bastards.

@gregggonsalves I grew up in Brazil in the 80s, one of my earliest memories is of a coworker of my mom who survived polio in her childhood, but was left with several disabilities because of it.

You can be damn sure my mom made me take all the shots.

@gregggonsalves I've said it before, in a few years we will all be responsible for building our own homes, own roads and doing our own surgeries.
