It is very funny that the two options for casually socializing with a person is "get coffee" or "go to a bar". It is like. You walk up to someone and are like "hello would you like to go ingest stimulants? or perhaps a mood-altering depressant"
People talk about "missing third places" and what they mean is the lack of socially normative ways to invite a friend to do psychadelics
@mcc mm
@onelson The original version of this post involved a comment about going to look at abstract art but thing is I'm not sure that's as much of an intense immersive experience for other people as it is for me
@mcc “me and some close friends do lowish dose shrooms and then walk in a park” is responsible for *several* of my best days ever, so this checks out
@mcc "yo, i got an eighth of mushrooms -- sharing is caring, you in?" ez

@mcc I keep meaning to go to the new japanese import arcade in chinatown and learn beatmania iidx

maybe I should start inviting people to do that with me, it sounds like a good alternative

@mcc or you could do the sweetest psychadelics, invite them for hot cocoa and macarons
@mcc wanna go have liquids?
@shoofle Banned from polite society because I like water too much
@mcc from a biochemistry standpoint, every single social interaction is just pouring some complex molecules on our neuro receptors, soooo......
@mcc These days, I find that saying, "Want to go out and play?" tends to give the wrong impression.
@SouthFresh "do u want to have a sleepover"
@mcc I feel that this would lead me to either having to announce to my neighbors anytime I've moved in to their neighborhood, or a black eye.
@mcc Let's go get some water just doesn't have the same ring to it, to be honest...
@mcc Most human beings like it the ambient of the places where you can 'get coffee' and the relaxed moment of be in a 'bar'. Both situations arise from our own biology. Why this current trend of review basic instincts every day. 😅
@mcc Oakland also has a mushroom church. So you know, options.

@mcc The art of courting is truly lost once upon a time going to community dances was one way of meeting people out of high school and then was dinner clubs and dancing till way too many married people were cruising looking for trouble in different parts of town than they lived in ... Barely any weddings anymore either ... so going to the bar was another option and taking even bigger chances ... sometimes an university club party was another...

You would be surprised what can be learned

@mcc in Mexico we do food: we have antojitos or barbacoa or cochinita in the morning, tacos in the night, we also have antojitos in the night, but we also have tacos of guisado or canasta in the morning
@jailandrade quiero ir a mexico…
@mcc come to Mexico! and enjoy all the food, places and things we have to offer
@jailandrade (i used to live in texas, but i've only actually crossed the border into mexico once. i did get a homecooked meal while there and it was excellent.)
@mcc I'm glad that you liked that food!
@mcc this sounds like a line from an Aldous Huxley book 😀
@mcc it makes so much more sense now that they call weed dispensaries 'coffeeshops' in the netherlands
