absolutely hilarious that if I want a bottle of acerum (maple brandy legally produced only in quebec from exclusively québécois maple), my two options are “go to quebec and buy it from the SAQ” or “spend €125 to import it from france” and these options both cost about the same

most buildings with fire alarm systems these days use a two-stage system, which has a “be ready to leave” stage (usually a single long tone repeated) and a “gtfo” stage (temporal 3)

watching the new Technology Connections video and I would like to share a fun fact

did you know that if you go look next to the door to your emergency stairwell (in a residential or commercial building, at least in Canada) there will be a plaque affixed to the wall, which details a) what to do in a fire emergency, and b) the audible signals used by the fire alarm system in your building, and c) what you should do when you hear a specific audible signal over the fire PA
