3… 2… 1… BLAST OFF! Time once again to push myself creatively during Inktober. Hopefully I’ll make it through the entire month. I can’t wait to see what you all create. This is going to be fun!
Day 1: Backpack
There be my booty!
Day 2: Discover #Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 2: Discover.
I took my time coloring this one and I think it paid off. Love how the loot turned out in particular. 💎 #Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

“Then I’ll be living on an island and I don’t even know if I’ll be in a hut or what.” 🍹🌋🌺
Day 4: Exotic
Time-lapse process for Day 4: Exotic.
It only took me three (long) attempts to get the tiki mouth right. Went from Jason Voorhees to Bender to final. Also debated leaving the whole thing uncolored but it’s hard sometimes to stop myself. 🤦♂️ #Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Day 5: Binoculars
Time-lapse process for Day 5: Binoculars
I could’ve used Linea’s perfect geometric ZipShapes to create his eyes, the dial, the side of his head and so on but I wanted it to have that slight hand-drawn, imperfect feel. Freehanding circles and curves still takes a lot of practice to get right but I also enjoy the challenge. #Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Day 6: Trek
It’s impossible to overstate how much #StarTrek means to me. I’ve enjoyed it all of my life –It’s molded me as a human being, allowed me to meet wonderful like-minded people and helped pull me through some of the darker times in my life. I cannot image, nor would I want to, a world where Gene Roddenberry had not created Star Trek.
I enjoyed every moment of drawing today’s Inktober, even the hand-lettering Microgramma. 🤓🖖
Day 7: Passport (App)
Time-lapse process for Day 7: Passport
Time-lapse for Day 8: Hike.
@Batz and I watch The Price Is Right almost every night and there are some games we just love like Plink-O, The Dice Game, Safe Crackers and of course Cliffhangers.
Thanks to @leebennett for supplying the iconic yodel soundtrack for this one, it wouldn’t be the same without it! 🏔️
It’s a star! It’s a star! So Janet got its autograph!
Day 9: Sun
The little Mars rover that could. 🥹
Day 10: Nomadic
#Inktober #TeamSoujourner #NASA #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 9: Nomadic
All the Mars rovers are amazing. I’ve had a special place in my heart for Viking since Carl Sagan’s Cosmos as a kid. I loved Carl, but Sojourner is my absolute favorite.
It was the first mobile rover and oh so adorable. It didn’t travel far but boy it sparked my imagination. Figuring out the color palette for this Inktober was tricky but happy with/ how it turned out. 👍

Day 11: Snacks 🧛♂️🩸🦇
Time-lapse process for Day 11: Snacks
If you follow me then you probably can surprise my recent refrigerator adventures helped inspire this one. 😁
Day 12: Remote
Time-lapse process for Day 12: Remote
The first twelve days of Inktober. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite but I think it gotta go with Day 10: Nomadic. Hope you’ve enjoyed it so far. On we go!
“See the line where the sky meets the sea… it calls me.”
Day 13: Horizon
It isn’t all puppies and rainbows during Inktober, you know. 🔪
Day 14: Roam
Time-lapse process for Day 14: Roam
Day 15: eWorld Guidebook
#Inktober #eWorld #HumanArt #iPadPro #ApplePencil #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 15: Guidebook.
I love trying to emulate the style of Apple’s eWorld social network. Everything is so vibrant and the shapes are really forgiving but there’s a quality about it that if you don’t get just right, it def feels wrong. I think I pulled it off here tho.
This one ended up being much more fun than I thought it would be given the boring prompt. Yay!

How’d you know it was me?
Day 16: Grungy
#Inktober #Peanuts #Halloween #HumanArt #iPadPro #ApplePencil #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 16: Grungy
I think many artists enjoy trying to emulate their favorite creators. I get a great deal of joy from looking at work I admire and trying to figure out what makes it so amazing.
Being able to replicate the charming work of Charles Shultz is one small example. The simple, sketchy line work, the amazing colors and even the shadows cast by the animation cells. This was a fun one. 👻🎃
Day 17: Journal
Time-lapse process for Day 17: Journal
Struggled with a bunch of stuff here including her face. I spent maybe 3 hours on this one start to finish. Time-lapse makes it look effortless, and to some talented folks this would be a cake walk, but it wasn’t for me. Still it was fun to draw and I’m amazed I enjoyed it at all considering the utterly boring prompt of ‘Journal’. 😐
“I have an ultimate storage capacity of 800 quadrillion bits.”
Day 18: Drive
Time-lapse process for Day 18: Drive
I like to think I’m not a one trick pony. Sketches like this one really help me get outside my comfort zone and prove it. I knew exactly what I wanted to draw but I wasn’t sure how (or even if) I was gonna be able to pull it off.
The trick is to take things one step at a time and try not to get discouraged. This one could’ve been better but it’s pretty much how I saw it in my head and that’s what matters.
Day 19: Ridge
Time-lapse process for Day 19: Ridge
Didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted but still happy overall. Just wish it was a bit more luminous . 🤷♂️
#Inktober #HumanArt #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 20: Uncharted
Gilligan’s Island was my happy place as a kid. I would come home from school and watch at least 2 episodes which were played back to back. My mom *hated* the show but I loved it.
I tried to squeeze in as many Easter eggs into this sketch as I could - the WWII Magnetic mine, the island volcano, the cave, quicksand and more. Watched a couple ep while I drew which was also fun. 😄
Day 20: Rhinoceros
Time-lapse process for Day 20: Rhinoceros.
I’m not really happy with this one, would’ve done a lot of things differently but it was late and I think I fell asleep twice while drawing it. :-/
Day 22: Camp
Time-lapse process for Day 22: Camp
What you don’t see here are the THREE attempts I made before this one. Couldn’t get the grid size and the flame shape just right. Much trial and error. I like how it turned out in the end though. Gotta push a few pixels every now and then.
Time-lapse process for Day 23: Rust
It’s amazing how subtle changes in eye position can make a character look spot on or “off”. Struggled a bit with Bender’s eyes here. Didn’t want him to look mean or have “resting robot face” but slightly drunk or off-kilter with his rusty beard growth. Very fun to draw. #Inktober #Futurama #HumanArt #LineaSketch
“We came here in peace, we expect to go in one… piece.”
Day 24: Expedition
Time-lapse process for Day 24: Expedition.
Be sure to turn your sound up on this one! 🎶 Also, remind me to never draw a nine-sided technical object ever again. 🥴 This made me want to continue watching SG-1. I stopped somewhere at the start of S3 and need to keep going.
My drawings for the second half of Inktober. Favorites this time around are probably 13: Horizon and 15: Guidebook. I love drawing eWorld stuff so that one was super fun to create. There’s only a handful of days and drawings left… where did October GO!?
“I think I’ll miss you most of all.”
Day 25: Scarecrow
Time-lapse process for Day 25: Scarecrow.
No sketching, just drawing and it turned out okay! Will try to do more like this in the future if I can work up the courage. #Inktober #Halloween #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 26: Gamera
I’m not sure I made the right color choices on this one, could be a lot stronger I think but the play on words was still fun to draw and I love shading with halftone dots. 🤷♂️ #Inktober #Halloween #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 27: Road.
I debated in my mind if I was going to actually draw this one and I decided I had to. Like most of you I simply cannot believe millions of Americans are prepared to embrace Trump and the fascism, lawlessness and racism he represents. I feel like I’m living on another planet. I hope we all soon learn our fears were unfounded. I hope. I hope. #Inktober #USPolitics #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Day 28: Jumbo
Time-lapse process for Day 28: Jumbo.
Yes, I drew an elephant but I tried to make him as adorable as I possibly could to make up for my lack of cleverness.
Hard to believe but there’s only three days/drawings to go. Crazy.
Day 29: Navigator
I still carry a grudge to this day about Farscape being cancelled way ahead of its time.
Time-lapse process for Day 29: Navigator
This was so horrible at the very beginning I almost trashed it and went with a different idea. Stuck with it however and was happy how it turned out.
Could say that about a lot of things in life I think.
Two to go!!!
Day 30: Violin
@gedeonm I never watched the show and am not familiar with any of the characters. But wow, great detail and shading in that drawing. So cool.
Another idea I had before the Trimaxion was something related to the helm and navigator console on the Enterprise, but felt too ambitious for available time.
@gedeonm LOLOL I sense a foul. 🤣
Still an awesome drawing.
