Time-lapse process for Day 9: Nomadic

All the Mars rovers are amazing. I’ve had a special place in my heart for Viking since Carl Sagan’s Cosmos as a kid. I loved Carl, but Sojourner is my absolute favorite.

It was the first mobile rover and oh so adorable. It didn’t travel far but boy it sparked my imagination. Figuring out the color palette for this Inktober was tricky but happy with/ how it turned out. 👍

If you follow me then you probably can surprise my recent refrigerator adventures helped inspire this one. 😁

#Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

The first twelve days of Inktober. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite but I think it gotta go with Day 10: Nomadic. Hope you’ve enjoyed it so far. On we go!

#Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

“See the line where the sky meets the sea… it calls me.”

Day 13: Horizon

#Inktober #Moana #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

It isn’t all puppies and rainbows during Inktober, you know. 🔪

Day 14: Roam

#Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

The head start I gave myself for this year’s #Inktober is officially gone. Though I’ve got it sketched, I’ll be drawing tomorrow’s entry on the day. Suppose I should be happy I got half way through the month ahead of the game but still. 😐

Time-lapse process for Day 15: Guidebook.

I love trying to emulate the style of Apple’s eWorld social network. Everything is so vibrant and the shapes are really forgiving but there’s a quality about it that if you don’t get just right, it def feels wrong. I think I pulled it off here tho.

This one ended up being much more fun than I thought it would be given the boring prompt. Yay!

Time-lapse process for Day 16: Grungy

I think many artists enjoy trying to emulate their favorite creators. I get a great deal of joy from looking at work I admire and trying to figure out what makes it so amazing.

Being able to replicate the charming work of Charles Shultz is one small example. The simple, sketchy line work, the amazing colors and even the shadows cast by the animation cells. This was a fun one. 👻🎃

Time-lapse process for Day 17: Journal

Struggled with a bunch of stuff here including her face. I spent maybe 3 hours on this one start to finish. Time-lapse makes it look effortless, and to some talented folks this would be a cake walk, but it wasn’t for me. Still it was fun to draw and I’m amazed I enjoyed it at all considering the utterly boring prompt of ‘Journal’. 😐

Day 18: Drive

#Inktober #StarTrek #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 18: Drive

I like to think I’m not a one trick pony. Sketches like this one really help me get outside my comfort zone and prove it. I knew exactly what I wanted to draw but I wasn’t sure how (or even if) I was gonna be able to pull it off.

The trick is to take things one step at a time and try not to get discouraged. This one could’ve been better but it’s pretty much how I saw it in my head and that’s what matters.

#Inktober #StarTrek #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 19: Ridge

Didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted but still happy overall. Just wish it was a bit more luminous . 🤷‍♂️

Day 20: Uncharted

#Inktober #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 20: Uncharted

Gilligan’s Island was my happy place as a kid. I would come home from school and watch at least 2 episodes which were played back to back. My mom *hated* the show but I loved it.

I tried to squeeze in as many Easter eggs into this sketch as I could - the WWII Magnetic mine, the island volcano, the cave, quicksand and more. Watched a couple ep while I drew which was also fun. 😄

Day 20: Rhinoceros

Time-lapse process for Day 20: Rhinoceros.

I’m not really happy with this one, would’ve done a lot of things differently but it was late and I think I fell asleep twice while drawing it. :-/

#Inktober #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 22: Camp

What you don’t see here are the THREE attempts I made before this one. Couldn’t get the grid size and the flame shape just right. Much trial and error. I like how it turned out in the end though. Gotta push a few pixels every now and then.

“Bite my rusty, metal ass!”

Day 23: Rust

#Inktober #Futurama #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 23: Rust

It’s amazing how subtle changes in eye position can make a character look spot on or “off”. Struggled a bit with Bender’s eyes here. Didn’t want him to look mean or have “resting robot face” but slightly drunk or off-kilter with his rusty beard growth. Very fun to draw. #Inktober #Futurama #HumanArt #LineaSketch

“We came here in peace, we expect to go in one… piece.”

Day 24: Expedition

#Inktober #Stargate #SciFi #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 24: Expedition.

Be sure to turn your sound up on this one! 🎶 Also, remind me to never draw a nine-sided technical object ever again. 🥴 This made me want to continue watching SG-1. I stopped somewhere at the start of S3 and need to keep going.

#Inktober #Stargate #SciFi #HumanArt #LineaSketch

My drawings for the second half of Inktober. Favorites this time around are probably 13: Horizon and 15: Guidebook. I love drawing eWorld stuff so that one was super fun to create. There’s only a handful of days and drawings left… where did October GO!?

#Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

“I think I’ll miss you most of all.”

Day 25: Scarecrow

#Inktober #Halloween #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 25: Scarecrow.

No sketching, just drawing and it turned out okay! Will try to do more like this in the future if I can work up the courage. #Inktober #Halloween #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

I never could spell… 😂

Day 26: Gamera.

#Inktober #Halloween #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 26: Gamera

I’m not sure I made the right color choices on this one, could be a lot stronger I think but the play on words was still fun to draw and I love shading with halftone dots. 🤷‍♂️ #Inktober #Halloween #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

So, what’s it gonna be?

Day 27: Road

#Inktober #USPolitics #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 27: Road.

I debated in my mind if I was going to actually draw this one and I decided I had to. Like most of you I simply cannot believe millions of Americans are prepared to embrace Trump and the fascism, lawlessness and racism he represents. I feel like I’m living on another planet. I hope we all soon learn our fears were unfounded. I hope. I hope. #Inktober #USPolitics #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 28: Jumbo.

Yes, I drew an elephant but I tried to make him as adorable as I possibly could to make up for my lack of cleverness.

Hard to believe but there’s only three days/drawings to go. Crazy.

#Inktober #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

Day 29: Navigator

I still carry a grudge to this day about Farscape being cancelled way ahead of its time.

#Inktober #Farscape #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 29: Navigator

This was so horrible at the very beginning I almost trashed it and went with a different idea. Stuck with it however and was happy how it turned out.

Could say that about a lot of things in life I think.

Two to go!!!

#Inktober #Farscape #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 31: Landmark

That’s a wrap on Inktober 2024. I hope you enjoyed following along as much as I enjoyed drawing. Inktober helped keep me sane in the run up to this stupid election so I figured it was fitting the final entry was about casting our critical ballots.

Thanks to all who liked or commented on my work, it really means a lot to me. I’m actually looking forward to next year, I just hope the prompts will be more exciting. 😐

#Inktober #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 1: Mustache

Channeled Edward Gorey for this one, I have always admired his work. In college I wrote him to ask permission to use The Gashleycrumb Tinies in a school project.

I was delighted when he wrote me back & crushed when he said no. This was in 1994, pre-internet, only for class but he still said no. I never forgot it.

So I’ve always tried to give permission for my stuff when I can because of him. He died in 2000.

#Inktober #fediart #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 2: Weave 🕷️

Note I flipped the lower corner content around at one point because I wanted the dungeon to appear like it was beneath the haunted house above. 😊

#Inktober #fediart #Halloween #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 3: Crown

This was one of those times when what I saw in my head and what ended up on the page were quite different. Sometimes it just doesn’t translate properly but that’s okay, it’s still pretty fun and spooky. I also added that final bit of background color long after I had “finished” the drawing, needed *something* back there.

#Inktober #fediart #Halloween #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 4: Murky

This one was inspired by one of my favorite online artists @csilverman. His use of color is amazing and his art has a unique otherworldly feel that I attempted to channel here to the best of my ability. This may end up being one of my favs from #inktober2025 I had a lot of fun creating it. Dark, spooky, and telling a story. 😱

PS - If you don’t follow Chris, I highly recommend following him. Such a treat.

#Inktober #fediart #HumanArt #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 5: Deer

Not going to lie, this one had me vexed. Sometimes it’s the simple ones that are the hardest. 🤔

Time-lapse process for Day 7: Starfish.

Seen quite a few Patricks today so I’m glad I put a little extra spin on mine at least. Also happy I managed to get his smile to show through his ninja mask. 🥰 🥷

#Inktober #FediArt #HumanArt #SpongeBob #LineaSketch

Time-lapse process for Day 8: Reckless

Sometimes the simplest ideas and treatments are best. I love the dichotomy of the adorable couple combined with the impending doom of their relationship. As Willy Wonka said “The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.” 🌵🎈💥😅

#Inktober #FediArt #HumanArt #LineaSketch

@gedeonm Simple is indeed good.

Mine today may be somewhat less simple, but I am massively pleased with how it is turning out. Just finished inking in the sketch. Headed home from work and will color it in tonight.

@gedeonm Great idea! 😄
@gedeonm This one made me chuckle.
@gedeonm That is amazing. I love it!
@gedeonm Well poo, now I feel bad that I was also planning to draw Patrick! But too late. It’ll happen!
@leebennett I’ve seen tons of Patrick’s today. We’re not alone. You’ll do great!
@gedeonm Nice work, I love the flowy shapes!
@gedeonm I’m anticipating the Timelapse on this one. Did you just start out drawing small so the hash fill pattern would appear pretty large, or maybe just filled a layer with the pattern and enlarged within a mask?
@leebennett No I just drew the pattern by hand at the size of the sketch so it would be scaled appropriately. Took some time for sure.
@gedeonm Ah okay, looking closer I can now see the irregular section sizes that don’t match the consistent section sizes of the fill pattern.
@gedeonm I love this one Ged.
@simonharper Wow, really? Well thank you!

@gedeonm Those shadows in the water are so good. Love the colors here, too; you really did nail the qualities I go for.

I think this is the first time I've seen work directly inspired by #notesArt. It's kind of fascinating to see someone else's spin on my aesthetic.

@gedeonm this reminds me of old school @lucasarts_places in the best way. Just love that texture!
@gedeonm this is so cool! We want more!
@numericcitizen Every single day! Stay tuned. 😃
@gedeonm I always love seeing your Inktober posts, and the time lapse. :)
@gedeonm I always enjoy your artwork as it comes into my timeline, but I never noticed that you've kept it going as a single thread which is really quite cool to be able to easily go back & see it all at once.
@billvinson Thanks! Pretty cool that that actually works. Wish I could’ve gone back further but before that I was on stupid Twitter.

@gedeonm it's funny, I saw the art before the description and the first thing I thought was "Oh wow, that reminds me so much of Edward Gorey."

The animation of it coming together is especially cool.

@gedeonm That’s fun 🙂 Nice work!
@gedeonm Thanks for a month of great and funny drawings. I especially like that you always post the making-of too. Looking forward to next October.
@gedeonm thanks you for the last 31 days of super illustrations! This last one really is on point 🙌🏼
@gedeonm You make art like this appear deceptively easy to draw. So good.
@gedeonm I’ve been way behind on my timeline and only tonight saw your violin art. Looks a LOT like promo posters for a festival of arts event that was promoted by the radio station I worked at one year in college. Pretty.
@gedeonm Was there a Timelapse for this one? Never saw it.
