So.

Considering

-the little confusions I've experienced here and there since I came out of #CovidJail

-my increased difficulty since then in starting and/or completing tasks

-my difficulty since then in making decisions & processing information

-the fact that 30 min ago, I LOCKED MYSELF OUT OF BOTH HOUSE AND CAR

-and the fact that the science checks out,

I can confirm that #COVID makes #ADHD symptoms, ESPECIALLY #ExecutiveDysfunction, significantly worse, even in spite of ADHD meds.

I am safe on my shady porch. Just waiting for the husband to get home within the half hour. 😊🖖

Neighbor came over for a chat. When I told her what the what is, she went and got me a bottle of refrigerated water. She said, "I'd offer to let you sit in my air conditioning, but it's broken."

I'm glad for other humans.

UPDATE

Spouse arrived after I'd been out there 1hr. Went inside, rested, drank more water. All is well.

Getting locked out because ADHDbrain was only half of the unusual of today.

I also diverged from my plants-shopping plans to go get groceries for a deaf homeless man outside PetSmart. We communicated by writing. I left him with food, water, and paper & pen so he could respond if someone else stopped to talk to him.

And I somehow paid enough attention to get gas in my car...

...instead of waiting until I'm only *guessing* that I might have 5 miles left in the tank.

So that's a win.

Today has been weird and frustrating, and even my exhausted is exhausted. But after resting and rehydrating, I took my HHGTTG-shirted self to the polls and did the thing.

#vote, y'all. 🤘🖖

@courtcan where's the bowl of petunias?
@courtcan As a deaf person, I want to thank you for taking the time to communicate with the deaf homeless man. You might be surprised by the amount of people who ignore and avoid deaf people. I imagine that being homeless makes it so much worse. I’m pretty sure you made that guy’s whole week just by acknowledging his existence and treating him like a human being.

@chiaraaa It was genuinely the only right thing for me to do. 🙏😊

I'd like to say that I wouldn't be surprised at how many people ignore the vulnerable like him. I did note several people entering/exiting the store who glanced his way but hurried on. It made me sad, but I wasn't surprised.

OTOH, I suspect the situation is colossally worse than I imagine. So it probably *would* shock me.

Our system doesn't take care of people like him. So it is my responsibility and honor to do so if I can.

@chiaraaa I wished that I knew ASL (I know the alphabet and a few simple signs).

He didn't try to sign anything. I was already masked up to go into the store, but I pulled my mask down to ask (enunciating) if he could read lips. He couldn't. And he was probably in his 50s.

All of which makes me think he doesn't know ASL either. And maybe he lost his hearing after becoming homeless.

Our system is functioning as designed, and it is very obviously not designed for people like him.

@courtcan You have had a day! I hope you get to have a relaxing evening.
@michelestrider Thanks, I hope so too! I am too pooped to poop, as my dad would say. 😆
Oh no, that sucks! Glad you have someone there for you!
@cy Thank you, me too! And a neighbor just brought me a bottle of cold water. 😊
@courtcan Courtney I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. My LC symptoms have not included brain fog so I'm lucky
