We've got solar panels and when there's not enough power being generated to cover usage of big appliances I like to pretend I'm a star ship captain by turning stuff off from non essential systems. I issue commands like divert power from lights to tumble dryer.
@fesshole Houston, we have a problem.
@fesshole “bedroom reports the Hitachi Magic Wand is a critical system, captain!”
@fesshole Just don't shatter the dilithium crystals.
@fesshole @lisamelton watch out for that dodgy starboard power coupling
@fesshole "Eeeooop Eeeeeop"
That's the noise my house makes when God help me, it's been cloudy for like an hour and something's going to f***
@fesshole Have you tried reversing the polarity?

@fesshole Oh god here we go again (types frustratingly)...

You need to reverse the polarity of the phase variance coils on the deflector dish to emit inverse tachyon particles and send them to the nacelle scoops so that when you eject the warp core they can ignite the trilithium crystals and that generates a trans-warp field which will put your ship into a reverse time-warp that resonates with the original phase variance due to quantum tunneling!

This is like, first year academy stuff!

@fesshole To be fair, I probably would as well. 🤔
@fesshole Manually, or via voice command with something like Home Assistant?
@fesshole “Well, I think I will have to pause the Wi-Fi router for a while.”
Children: “Nooo, don’t disable the life support systems!!!”
@fesshole Yeah, you should be able to programme something like #HomeAssistant to respond to those commands.
@TimWardCam
You could also get solar production forecast to launch the stuff at the right time
@fesshole
@jfparis @fesshole In theory. The two solar prediction thingies I've tried have both been sort-of reasonably accurate on a month by month basis but pretty useless hour by hour.
@fesshole Set devices to stun.
@fesshole We're getting ours in a few months, and it seems like the SPAN smart panels are made for this: being able to divert power from ceiling fans to life support (the well pump, WiFi, fridge) in the voice of your favorite captain.
@fesshole I do this too, playing grid operator and taking advantage of when “prices go negative” to run the water heater, A/C and other large appliances. We did this for eight days during the last grid outage caused by Beryl.
