Happy Trans Day of Visibility. Here is a report from my recent trip to Rome where, in ancient times, trans people were very visible indeed.
https://www.cheryl-morgan.com/a-pilgrimage-to-rome/
Today is Trans Day of Visibility. In a time when more and more trans people are being pushed into invisibility for safety, especially in light of the UK's Supreme Court ruling, as we see more attacks to push us out of fully participating in society, whilst at the same time too few trans voices are actually present in the rooms making those decisions. We need to reclaim our visibility, and the safety to be visible. I'm going to continue to do my part (as deputy leader of the opposition here in Manchester) and resist those who want to see me disappear.

"The closure of 'tabacs' (small local caf茅-bars in France) contributes to the progression of far-right voting... regardless of immigration, unemployment or other economic indicators...

"Symmetrically, the opening of tabacs is associated with a decline in far-right voting, suggesting that these dynamics are not irreversible.

"No other commercial closure produces a comparable effect. The specificity of tabacs lies in their function as a place of socialisation... The effects are three times stronger in rural communities, where these establishments often constitute the last place of sociability...

"When places of sociability disappear, politics becomes a face-off between atomised individuals and national media narratives."

since Trump has bankrupted the USA, the new moderate position should be to seize all the assets of the billionaires and millionaires who scammed the country into bankruptcy, no?

A small set of people are merging changes to various Linux components to make sure every application knows your birth date.

This is being done rapidly by people with questionable justifications and being merged with no youth and few marginalized people involved.

Evil, horrible things are afoot.

Somebody wants open source dead. Along with privacy, freedom of speech, and the digital commons.

ah dammit, killed my #asahi install forcing an early upgrade to #fedora 44. probably could have been saved with more fedora-fu (i'm an #ubuntu-girl at heart), as failure seemed more about fedora than asahi per se. otoh in the process of troubleshooting found they only actually "released" asahi fedora remix 43 a couple of days ago so... progress has slowed to a crawl.

partitions gone. may try again closer to when my macs fall off #apple's support path.
