A small set of people are merging changes to various Linux components to make sure every application knows your birth date.
This is being done rapidly by people with questionable justifications and being merged with no youth and few marginalized people involved.
Evil, horrible things are afoot.
Somebody wants open source dead. Along with privacy, freedom of speech, and the digital commons.

ah dammit, killed my #asahi install forcing an early upgrade to #fedora 44. probably could have been saved with more fedora-fu (i'm an #ubuntu-girl at heart), as failure seemed more about fedora than asahi per se. otoh in the process of troubleshooting found they only actually "released" asahi fedora remix 43 a couple of days ago so... progress has slowed to a crawl.
partitions gone. may try again closer to when my macs fall off #apple's support path.
I think this post has been in my drafts folder for about three years, occasionally being reworked, and finally – FINALLY – I've finished it. Joni Mitchell, Jello Biafra, and Peter Thiel all feature. Warning - it's REALLY LONG.

In 1979, a punk band from San Francisco recorded a song about the Governor of California. It was a joke, mostly. Jerry Brown was a Democrat, a Buddhist, a man who dated Linda Ronstadt and discussed limits and simplicity at a moment when America was in no mood for either.
