The people who control the #RepublicanParty are intent on the destruction of the rule of law and the principles of constitutionalism.
They are drunk on power, and no longer care to even don the mask of "law and order". Like all who achieve dominant social #privilege in the history of human civilization, they use their power to reinforce their power by any means possible, and believe that whatever they can get away with is morally permissible. "Win at any and all costs" is the #Trumpism mantra.
The #GOP was long ago taken over by the impulses of #authoritarianism, and hierarchies of social privilege are their idols, not Christianity.
They mean to establish themselves as a permanent, hereditary, aristocratic ruling class, they believe they deserve this power. They have hoodwinked approximately half the nation into the delusion that this will be to the benefit of the common man.
#Project2025 is merely the disease laid bare, on public display, a clarion call to their willing subjects.
To be clear, there is a strong thread of authoritarianism also woven into the fabric of the #DemocraticParty. This is the cancer at the heart of #SocialLiberalism in America.
This is why the #DemocraticParty is such an ineffective opposition. This is how we got #Biden, #Harris, #Pelosi, #Feinstein, #Lieberman, #Lautenberg, and #Schumer, among many other #Democrats who have carried and still carry the torch for the military/security/police/prison-industrial complex, while claiming to be "left".
The US is not a #democracy. Our system of constitutional governance was specifically designed to thwart democracy and the #tyranny of the majority.
We have lost the critical mass of consensus on the importance of holding a common belief in #pluralism, and we have fallen prey to the tyranny of a minority which has manipulated our system of #federalism and made bastions of their voting districts and state legislatures.
If we do not act immediately, we will not recover without bloodshed.
American #SocialLiberalism is a failed ideology, despite the fact that it has resulted in some good outcomes. We must recongize this.
It was an attempt to graft #socialism #authoritarianism into symbiosis with #liberalism #capitalism, and it just doesn't work when you artificially force these two antithetical ideologies together.
So-called #ThirdWay politics, which is incorrectly called #neoliberalism by some commentators, has proven to be even more of a dismal failure.
The #ClassicalLiberalism upon which all modern societies are based was specifically antithetical to the #feudalism #aristocracy that formed the basis of the old world, the pre-Modern world.
It should not surprise that those who wish to install themselves as rulers seek to destroy the principles upon which modernity is founded.
The #antithesis of #Equality is #Hierarchy. #Privilege is the antithesis of #Merit. What defines #Authority is hierarchy. What defines #Liberty is equality.

So many people only recognize one piece of it or another and not the whole picture. I first saw the one post about the GOP and took a deep breath all mad and ready to type "but that's what the DNC is after too" but then you actually went there, instead of stopping short. Then I went to read from the top of the thread and got context. Yes!
Democracy and "stable civil government" have never been real for everyone, always applied unevenly with someone getting marginalized and oppressed. We're nearing that dicey phase where the critical mass starts to fray and the balance tilts-- and a lot of people are focused on the chaos that instability will bring, but it's coming sooner or later, even if we try to procrastinate change and cling to the dysfunctional order until climate change forces collapse. We need to recalibrate and refocus, with equality and liberty held to a standard high enough to untangle them from the inherently fascist crap that's been getting sanitized and packaged alongside them and poisoning everything for too long.
