Il Tempo: Usa, ora l'Arco Trionfale è ufficiale: "Sia di ispirazione per la nazione"

È stato soprannominato "Arco di Trump", ma ora l'ultimo progetto edilizio del tycoon ha un nome ufficiale: "Arco Trionfale degli Stati Uniti". Oggi la portavoce della Casa Bianca, Karoline Leavitt, ha rivelato il nome ufficiale affermando che la gigantesca struttura è in costruzione per celebrare il 250 anniversario dell'indipendenza del Paese.
Mostrando la foto, Leavitt ha affermato che l'opera "monumentale" sarà alta 76,2 metri e al suo vertice campeggerà una enorme statua dorata della libertà. Di fatto, diventerà la struttura più grande del suo genere al mondo, superando l'Arco del Trionfo di Parigi, quello di Pyongyan e il Monumento alla Rivoluzione di Città del Messico. I progetti per l'arco sono stati rivelati per la prima volta a ottobre, quando i giornalisti hanno notato un modellino sulla scrivania di Trump nello Studio Ovale.
L'arco è uno dei numerosi progetti architettonici - tra cui la costruzione di una gigantesca sala da ballo alla Casa Bianca e la ristrutturazione del Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts - che il presidente Usa ha intrapreso per lasciare il segno a Washington nel suo secondo mandato. L'opera sarà finanziata in parte dai contribuenti statunitensi, con 2 milioni di dollari di fondi speciali provenienti dal National Endowment for the Humanities (NEHU), e fino a 13 milioni di dollari di fondi aggiuntivi per eventuali donazioni, come riportato da ABC News.
Leavitt ha affermato che l'obiettivo è quello di celebrare l'orgoglio nazionale americano: "Anche dopo che tutti i presenti in questa sala non ci saranno più, i nostri figli e nipoti continueranno a trarre ispirazione da questo monumento nazionale".

It was nicknamed “Trump’s Arch,” but the tycoon’s latest construction project now has an official name: “Triumphal Arch of the United States.” Today, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt revealed the official name, stating that the massive structure is being built to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence.

Showing the photo, Leavitt said the “monumental” work will be 76.2 meters tall and topped with a huge golden statue of Liberty. Essentially, it will become the largest structure of its kind in the world, surpassing the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the one in Pyongyan, and the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City. The designs for the arch were first revealed in October when journalists noticed a model on Trump’s desk in the Oval Office.

The arch is one of numerous architectural projects – including the construction of a giant ballroom at the White House and the renovation of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts – that the US president has undertaken to leave his mark in Washington during his second term. The work will be partially funded by US taxpayers, with $2 million in special funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEHU), and up to $13 million in additional funds for any donations, as reported by ABC News.

Leavitt stated that the goal is to celebrate American national pride: “Even after all of those present in this room are no longer here, our children and grandchildren will continue to be inspired by this national monument.”
