actual question my friend (also looking for work) is getting when they apply to work at a local cofe shop
this one defies explanation but it's from a job app for a hotel front desk position
@sugar ah, the Major Arcana

@sugar the more I look at this the more convinced I am that they are trying to do some kind of morality training for an AI here

also I want you to know we are playing 'tag yourself' with this in a discord I'm in right now; I'm A short circuit

@nash @sugar i'm a blunder

@loren I'm a madman but also a lover's embrace.

@nash @sugar

@willaful @loren @nash I'm a wreck
I'm a blunder
what the hell am i doing here

@sugar @willaful @loren @nash

I'm a wreck
I'm a blunder
I'm a madman
I'm a new car
I am lovers in embrace
I do not feel ashamed.

@nash @sugar

Well, that's an awful and probably accurate thought.

@nash @sugar hahaha holy shit

or oblique strategies

@sugar what a guessing game!? Hmmm... what would capitalist overlord want me to say?

@cathos @sugar

"The Best Assistant Manager That Ever Lived"

@sugar I always wonder if anyone actually cares about how these things get answered or if it's just a "Let's see how much bullshit they're willing to deal with" test
@coriander the amount of hoops someone must cartwheel through to get a so called "unskilled" position is ridiculous

@sugar it's seriously nuts

to get a job as a welder you do like a single basic interview and a weld test

that's IT

@coriander @sugar that’s because a good welder does not require interpersonal skills.

I think that chart above is trying to identify people who like to help and get recognition from others, not merely do good for themselves.
A good receptionist does not require a long list of academic qualifications, but they do require the right ethos

@sugar Are you supposed to answer like what's the best/worst thing for you to do as an employee if you got the job, or best/worst thing for a customer to do?
@sugar
This could be for a supervillain hiring henches.

@sugar

When do I start?

Arranging from Best to Worst

Prostitution
Justice
A madman
A foolish thought
A blunder
A lover's embrace
A token of love
A life of adventure
A short circuit
An award for a good deed
A decoration for bravery
A wreck
Imprisoning an innocent person
Torturing a person
Poisoning the city water
A technical improvement
A new car
A telephone

@sugar @Klaxun I can’t prove it but I just KNOW this somehow ties into Scientology
@Sadsquatch @sugar
I'm starting my own version!
@sugar @Klaxun oh hell yes, they are like 50 years overdue for a proper schism 🐿️
@Sadsquatch @sugar
I'm calling it The First Church of Scientology, Non-denominational. Our whole thing is plants. We don't believe in them.
@sugar @Klaxun cannot wait to scoff at the naïve pre-clears who still believe in plants. Fools.
@Sadsquatch @sugar @Klaxun More like the Church of Human Resources. They pray at the altar of mediocrity for pay increases by submitting stupid ideas like this one as offerings.
"Poisoning the water supply" is going right to the top of the list.

You shall rrrrrrrue the day you rrrrrrrefused to rrrrrretain my serrrrrrvices!
@sugar "a foolish thought" goes on the top because that's prime posting material right there
@sugar jokes aside this is so dystopian lol
@holly most of the entire goblin camp is foolish thoughts by volumne
@sugar this is some blade runner shit. "Are you an AI? Is love better than justice?"
@BestGirlGrace @sugar Needs a "flip the tortoise on its back" option.

@sugar This one in particular concerns me because I have ZERO idea what kind of answer they are looking for. Like in ye old days of applying for a retail position obviously they want you to narc on your coworker who time thefted and of course I'm supposed to find shoplifting to be an abomination unto the lord. But THIS????

Worst in CEO speak should be blunder right???? But shouldn't poisoning a water supply be worse because best intentioned it's a blunder with catastrophic consequences?????

  I can't this is too much

@lapis @sugar
It's simple. They look under which number you'll put "justice" (and throw in some stupidity like "torture" and "poisoning" to detect random answers/motivate you to start arranging). Because people who value justice high are more inclined to argue working conditions and don't let employer threat them like a shit.

@tyx @lapis @sugar precisely...

It's aimed to normalize and legally discriminate against people who are unionized or likely to have their priorities straight...

@sugar
okay, here I go

A lover's embrace
A token of love
Justice
A technical improvement
An award for a good deed
A new car
A telephone
Prostitution
A decoration for bravery
A foolish thought
A blunder
A short circuit
A life of adventure
A madman
A wreck
Imprisoning an innocent person
Torturing a person
Poisoning the city water

@sugar The only explanation that I will accept is an unethically implemented psychology experiment
@sugar $5 ChatGPT suggested and designed that.
@sugar After seeing these questions, I feel like if I wrote these kinds of questions I would make one of mine be "what is the worst 'creative' question you have been asked on a job application, and why." It would probably be more illuminating that these at least
@sugar @infernusgoatus i think my favorite has to be just “a telephone”
@jepyang @sugar trying to weed out the millenials there
@sugar I read an article once (wish I had saved it) that said they do this so they can run the results through AI analysis and filter out strong-willed people or those who will stand up to authority.

@aburtch

Not exactly the same, but in the late 80’s/early 90’s a company wanted me to hire them to apply a personality test (tweaked Myers Briggs) to my employees in order to weed out those who gave consistent answers because they were the most dangerous legally.

cc: @sugar

@sugar Errm, "best" or "worst" by what measure?

The question is so damn vague and open-ended it's impossible to give an honest answer.

@sugar I think they're just adding pointless nonsense and trying to see if people will notice
@sugar feels like the questionnaire to find out if you are a replicant
@sugar @futurebird having done that job in the past, it does suck in very unique and not obvious ways
@sugar they should combine these 2 questions. Gravestone: A wreck by working for a madman

@sugar

The new version of "Are you a robot?"

@sugar jokerfied by "poisoning the city's water supply" and "a telephone"

@sugar

I applied for a hotel job, and they asked if I would rather steal from the cash register or assault a guest. I chose steal, of course.

That was not the answer they were looking for.

@sugar is this a bladerunner test? You feel the warm embrace of your lover
@sugar I wish someone would please do #NameThemBlameThem to said businesses because these "tests" are highly questionable at best and serve only as tools for #discrimination at most...

Prostitution
Uuhhhh what were the rest?
@sugar Are these insanity tests?
