Voting is a strange thing to me.
I mean, we know that those who vote for conservative and nationalist (Edit: actually I mean "fascist" , not "nationalist," which is sometimes used to describe leftist independence parties) parties don't vote in their own interest. A lot of them are among the people who will suffer the most under those parties (e.g. from cuts in social security).
But I don't think we on the left always vote in our own interests either.
Many anarchists don't vote at all, because they don't want to support that system.
Okay, but parties are not funded by votes. Non-voters still pay taxes. And the state doesn't have less power if fewer people vote.
In countries with a two party system many leftists don't vote, because they are disappointed by the candidate that should be on their side.
In both cases I say: Vote for the lesser evil and then be the non parliamentary opposition!
Not voting doesn't weaken the system or show "them" a lesson. It only strengthens the worse evil.
And revolution and protest will be easier in a moderately evil state than a fascist police state.
